Hey everyone,
here I have a very old G4 Mac somewhat upgraded with a dual 1,33 GHz G4 card and a 128 MB ATi Radeon 9200 PCI card. I tried the Unreal Tournament 2004 demo and it is quite troubled. There are graphical glitches everyone. Most letters in the menu are crippled; they are only partially displayed. In the game itself I encounter the same situation. The figures and the maps and the textures in general are crippled. There are glitches everywhere.

I do use the latest version of the demo and the latest drivers of the graphics card.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Demo was known to have problems. Get the real game.

The latest demo does not have the old problems, hence why it is new...

The drivers are the issue here. ATI r200 chipsets (8500/9000/9200) are bugged. Apple is working on them now.

The demo runs perfectly on my iBook which has a 32mb ATi 9200. I even have it running at 1024x768 with maximum texture/detail settings. It is a 1ghz G4 with 512mb ram. I downloaded an update patch/driver from the ATI website for all Macs with Radeon cards. I can't say if that has helped or not as I didn't really play games before I installed it.

You might want to download the latest demo from this page. The linked page is from the guy who does the Mac UT ports.

The UT2004 demo was updated several weeks ago, the update fixed many bugs and added some more maps.
