Freeverse is going to be releasing board games similar to the newly released Big Bang Chess 2.

Unless you've been living in a dumpster during the last year, Big Bang Chess integrates with many of Apple's apps seamlessly.

You can play with iChat buddies that have Big Bang Chess, you can play games via Mail e-mail, you can listen to your iTunes library songs, as well as store opponents in your Address Book.

Big Bang Chess 2 seems to have a few new features: iSight integration (looks really cool...with 10.4 Tiger iChat-like reflections), GNU Chess master level AI and Hot Seat. There are lots of little features and graphics improvement on top of this though.

My gripes, though, are these: Hot Seat seems to use some voodoo/hackery to make 2 windows act like 1. This doesn't play well with Exposé and sure doesn't act like Mac OS X-ish to me. I've never seen such a thing in my life. When I move one window I don't expect the other to move.

I hope Freeverse will go back on their decision to put in this hack. Surely there's a better way of doing this.

Yeah Freeverse has made quite a few board games but not with the Big Bang theme of Sun vs Moon and excellent Mac OS X integration.

It would be more excellent integration if I could invite friends in an instant messanger other than iChat.

And it would be most excellent if it would allow people behind routers to host and gather games without special router configuration.
Genius. You know who.

Too complicated. I don't think Freeverse wants to integrate with 3rd-party IMs.

Big Bang Checkers is out.

But it's got a weird bug that makes the computer want to resign when it's in fact winning or even at the end of the game when it has won.

Hehe...me too. A few times I thought I was in a pretty deep doodoo but then the computer decided it wanted to resign.

With the 3rd party IM thing, perhaps not. But having the game work even if you are behind a NAT would surely make things less complicated.
