I have been trying to host a LAN game at home with my roommate, but I've hit a problem. Whenever I try to host a game, we are able to play the first map, but right as it loads the second map, the game quits to my desktop! This happens whether or not I have anyone joined, or if I am just playing bots. It only happens when I am hosting a LAN game. I am using patch 3323, so the software it up to date...any ideas? Anyone else with a G5 able to host a LAN game without any problems?

I remember an iMac that my friend used to have did that. My Powerbook could do it fine, every time he tried to Host it crashed. The iMac was a G4 1Ghz.

We do...but he has an upgraded sawtooth, so it's a little choppy for him when he hosts, and seeing that I have a much faster G5 it would be nice if I could host.

holy that thing's not even supported of course it is upgraded so I'll assume it meets the specs.
as to your problem do you have any mods that could be conflicting with anything?
have you tried reinstalling the game?
do you have the latest version of the game(ie downloaded all updates)?
There's probably someone you can e-mail for tech support for the game.

no mods, but yes to everything else. And of course the tech support is super slow...maybe I should be more patient. Waiting a week is not THAT long. I did wait 3 months for my computer to show up...

Well, in case anyone else gets this problem, MacSoft sent me a workaround.
Sorry about the delay on getting back to you on this. This is a known
limitation with the Listen server for UT2004 on the Mac. The workaround
is to get your game set up, and then run a dedicated server. Once the
dedicated server is up and running you can then launch UT2004 again and
join your own server.
