I beat the game with all the effects on start up off (but 1024 res, med. textures in game). I found that vertex shaders and such on a PB12" worked ok in some levels, but lagged too much in most.

However, playing online, I can turn on pixel shaders, reflections, and all that jazz. I'm not a huge FPS person, but it seems ok for me.

System:

•17" PB 1.5GHz
•1Gb DDR-333
•Radeon 9700M 128Mb
•10.3.7
•Halo 1.5

Settings:

•800x500
•Advance Pixel Shaders
•Detailed objects ON
•Lens Flare Medium
•Geometry HIGH
•Shadows ON
•Specular ON
•Particles HIGH
•Sound HIGH
•Video Vsync

Timedemos for these settings and the system are 29-30fps. And it works EXTREMELY well!!

With the latest patch you should be able to play with Extreme Lens Flares with almost no performance hit.

1920x1200 everything maxed and even 4 xAA and it runs really well on a dual 2.0 G5 and 6800 Ultra.

On my iBook G4 (933MHz, 640MB RAM), I run the game at 640x480, windowed (I prefer playing it in a window for some reason), with medium-detail models, no shaders, particles on medium, lens flares off, and shadows on. Runs pretty well (it's still the default install! I haven't patched it yet).

1GHz G4, 640MB RAM, Radeon 7500 (eep)

• 640x480 res
• Lowest textures
• No shaders
• Half particles
• Decals
• Med Lens Flare
• Highest model detail

Runs pretty well unless it's a 16-person packed server.. Looking forward to upgrading to 1.8GHz G5, 1.256GB RAM and 5200fx (well.. It's better!)

System:
Dual 867 MDD, 768MB RAM
GeForce Ti

Game:
pretty much default settings 1280x1024 - there was an FPS selecter which I set to 30 and the game runs great (well, it runs at about 30fps -der). I'll check more closely when i get home and have it in front of me.

Are there any preferences or processes that can be turned off that might improve performance? I remember turning off control panels and extensions in OS9.
