For those not familiar with sci-fi themed fps Marathon, this is a chance to get a first hand look. Bungie just released the trilogy as a free d/l -> http://trilogyrelease.bungie.org/
You need the aleph-one engine to play these games on os x -> https://sourceforge.net/project/show...ckage_id=82131
Anyone who went to college circa 1994 will remember Marathon as the game that kept the computer labs packed until the small hours of the night (and noisy too, as it was a networked game).

Thanks for the info!
If only the original game worked properly in the Classic environment (I don't like Raul Bonilla's A1 conversion)...

Just curious: how is it (Aleph One) different than the original?

"You rise," he said, "like Aurora."

Though I had a hell of a time... I managed to get marathon, marathon 2, marathon infinity, and various derivatives thereof (EVIL, RED, Rubicon, and Tempus Irae) to work just fine. The problem was the video was so farked, I could barely see the prefs dialog to set the resolution and color depth. After lots of blind mousing (clicking where the popup menus and buttons should be)... I lucked out. What worked for me was...
Detail: High Resolution
Window Size: 100%
Colors: Millions
and -- (when present) --
Fill the screen: *NOT*
2004 Aluminum PowerBook (12" G4 with OS 10.3.7).

It's free now?!
I own the Marathon Trillogy Box, BTW. I was playing through Marathon 2 using Aleph One, but I lost my save and haven't felt like playing it again since (I was also playing through the original Myth in the OS X port of Myth II, but that's gone too).

No, but the Aleph One team or parts thereof are working on an editor for OS X. That should help the series stay alive and loved .
