So my friends and I had the great idea of using a gigabit switch to hook our machines together (PowerBooks and G5s) to play UT2k4. Only when it comes time for everyone to get the maps they don't have, the transfer speed is abysmally slow. Is there any way to get UT2k4 to use your full network bandwidth?

Couldn't you j ust send the maps over the network through the finder?

Sure, but manually installing maps is a pain. And it's more automatic this way.

The way all the online servers do it is by having the game automatically download from an http server. You could set up your map files up on your mac's sites folder and figure out how to make UT2k4 do this. But in the end that probably is more a pain than just having everyone manually do it.
