I'm so glad that the Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour expansion pack is now shipping. I just wish Amazon would start shipping them. It better work with all the maps that PC users have created for Zero Hour. Anyone get it yet?

Got it in yesterday. Just tried it out for a few skirmishes. AI seems to be much better, even on Medium level. Can't wait to try Hard. Graphics on Generals maps is much improved, even on lower settings.
Unfortunately, Aspyr seems to have made it so it requires the DVD to be in the drive. With Generals, I was able to make a dmg and use that, but ZH isn't fooled. I know my dmg is ok because I can burn it and use the burned copy.

I started playing some skirmishes and noticed the improved AI. For one thing, I couldn't do nearly as much damage with Colonel What's-His-Name ("You want the best, here I am.") as I have in the past. He keeps getting shot by planes, or forced to navigtate very carefully around mines, etc.
Haven't had enough time to really notice other differences though. I'm really hoping the AI doesn't run out of money so easily as it does in the original game.

Command & Conquer: Generals is a very great real time strategy computer game. Now the expansion pack, Zero Hour, is a really solid addition to the game. It adds a whole bunch of new units to all three countries, such as the dirt bike for the GLA. It adds a bunch of new upgrades and special attacks. The single player missions are really fun and challenging. Plus theres a new mode called "Challenge" which pits you against a 'General' who has special units and tactics, while you pick the 'General' you like the best. A very nice way to add some more single player action to the game. Multiplayer is something I've yet to try out, only because no one around here wants to play it. Game performance has gone up in the expansion, my 1.33 ghz Powerbook with 768 RAM and a Geforce 5200Go was playing adequately at 800 x 600 and medium quality graphics. Moving that down to low quality cleared up any problems and unless I had a very graphics intense thing going on the game ran just fine. Now if only I could get Doom 3 to run on here.
Yeah, the AI is a lot better. It uses money a lot better.
I found a no CD crack for the game, which lets me get around that DVD drive thing.

Where are the ini files for Zero Hour? It doesn't use the Generals INI files.
Also, has anyone had success with user-created maps? All the ones I used in Generals don't work for the AI anymore (they just sit there).
