... and the really good news?
Mac version no longer requires the DVD to be in the drive to play (but you still need a valid CD key).
Head on over and get the 87.2 MB update linked from Gordon's page.

This is the 2nd time Epic has done this, they removed the CD requirement from UT99 after it had been out for awhile. Kudos to a game company that does things right by their customers.

Sweet!

I used to keep a copy of the Game in Toast format on the Desktop and then mount it when I want to play, now I don't even have to do that, kudos!

Thanks...

Wooooohhooooo, thanks Gordon.

Finally, no DVD required. My computer had a tough time reading the UT2004 DVD for saome reason. It didn't seem to have a problem with other game DVDs though.

Bigger than the DVD-in/out issue is the performance changes on maps like rustatorium or curse, etc...

I have a dual 800 Quicksilver, (rem: UT04 uses only 1 processor excepting offloading sound...) with geforce4 Ti, and frame rates used to drop to teens when I got near the water, or oil lake, etc...now, minimum frame rates stay in the mid=20s which is entirely playable, and go into the 50s and even 60s on some maps.

GREAT STUFF. I was impressed with the game to begin with, but blown away by their relentless improvement.

if you don't own it, buy it (if you like/play it) and support this kind of developer dedication!!!!
