This might be a stupid question but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere-
I have dual monitors- I know from system profile that it splits up the vram between the two monitors. Now, would my performance increase when playing 3d games if I disconnect the 2nd monitor (restarting obviously) or do games have a way of "disabling" the 2nd monitor, pooling all the resources into the main monitor?
I'm using the stock 64MB 9600 that comes with the 1gen 2.0 dual G5 and wondering if this process will help framerate whilst playing my newfound "World of Morecrack" addiction.
thanks in advance,
-craig

No, you wouldn't see any performance benefit from doing this, unless you're running another game on that second monitor.

I have two monitors as well (256MB total VRAM, split 128/128 obviously when in extended desktop mode).
When I launch Doom 3, the second display goes black and D3's console correctly identifies 256MB of VRAM, not 128MB.

It's never a 50% split like that - it's all on demand. Your average desktop doesn't require 128M of VRAM to run, for example. At a minimum, it's just the amount of memory needed to store a 2D framebuffer at the requested resolution.
