Ive been thinking of turning my Mini info a gaming console, at least theoretically... How? Well
1. get a emulator for n64 such a sixtyforce or some other system
2. get a dvi to video cabel to hook the Mini to a TV
3. get 2 cordless Logitech Rumblepad gamepads
4. get some roms
5. play

What do you think? The things Im not sure about is screen size and gamepad compatibility. Has anyone used the Logitech Cordless Rumblepad sucessfully on any emulator (sixtyforce maybe?) and also having no exp with sixtyforce can anyone tell me if it supports full screen view or something?

Thanks

Is the mini going to run fast enough for 64? I know the times I tried it on my 1.5ghz powerbook it was pretty unacceptable. NES and SNES are good though, and I think you're idea is great for that. It's been a while since I tested 64..

Certainly doable but, seems like a waste of the machine, since it is capable of so much more. I play emulated games on my laptop sometimes, but then again I did pay 3x what the mini costs.

@Sosa: Id use my Mini normally, not just as a console. It would still be on my desk hooked up to my monitor and so on This is just an addon

Also, does every ROM work with every emulator?

Being honest, I see several shortcomings there, N64 emulators are far from being in good shape, so you are there limited to a little working number or ROMs, being those not legal of course for the matter, then you have some expenses, the video cable adaptor, a couple of gamepads, you are going to miss the four play action in games such as Smash Bros, Mario Party, Mario Kart, GoldenEye... and play, well, if you really want to play N64 games, nothing like getting the real thing, it must be pretty cheap actually and it is such a cool system.

Yeah, you can get an n64 system for like $20 now, and that's a much better way to go. The mac n64 emulators are pretty much useless, they are a little better on the pc side, but that's not going to help you. It would be great for all the other older consoles though. Add some controllers and if you do a good job collecting roms you can have like every game for a bunch of consoles.
