FINALY!!!

School has come to an end! So for the summer I was thinking about getting the new F/A-18 Hornet Iraq Freedom game. I use to play a lot of Hornet and Korea when I was in high school, and after I moved to MacOS X they stop working and I got busy....well I am back in the free time zone.

Anyone has played this game? And I was thinking of getting a joystick for it....but I can't find a good one that will work on a mac.

Any recommendations are welcome.

Thanks.

Hi, I have a logitech Extreme 3D Pro which works straight out of the box. My old logitech also worked straight from the box. I am running 10.4 and use it in X-Plane. I have not tried F/A Hornet though.

OIF is not as good as Korea in that there are a few key commands that auto lock a close by aircraft without using the radar systems, just makes it a touch to much on the arcadish side. The squad I was on sent plenty of feedback that they were supposedly looking into that they've yet to consider even after saying they would look into it. We've kind of given up and the squad has disbursed because of it and the stick issues.

There seems to be a few stick issues no matter what stick you have where the stick will stop working till you push a button on the keyboard which returns the functions. GSC has posted a couple updates that are supposed to fix the issues but they remain and have yet to be fixed properly.

I own OIF for both Mac & Windows and both have issues still. If you have a PC at your disposal I say look into Lock On! Best fighter flight sim I've played.

As far as joysticks go, the best one out there is probably the Fighterstick USB from CH Products. http://www.chproducts.com Bit on the expensive side as joysticks go but will last you for ever. A lot of my old squad members uses Saitek sticks which are nice too. You can get the X52 Saitek from CompUSA for 129.99 and it comes with a throttle as well which is very nice.
