picked up medal of honor allies assault on the cheap but the problem is i can't get it to install and i'm not sure whether its game related or my drive!

updated to a g5 imac running 10.4.1 but when i put the disc in it seems to just grind away.

eventually the contents of the cd appear but the install image is the 'page and rulers' image rather than an medal of honor bit.

when i click on to install it opens on the dock but nothing else and i can here some reading going on in the drive!

opinions?

strangely, i loaded the game onto my old g4 running panther and it was happy to show me the updater etc...

installed the game and firewired it across to the g5, which has worked fine. in fact the cd is happy to play the game just seemed to not want me to install it!

so i still don't know why it wouldn't load on the installer and i guess i never will!

im sorry to tell you your g5 isnt a super drive then.

for a fact i know the medal of honor AA is almost 2 gbs it self. and that wont fit on 1 normal cd

so im guessing your g5 isnt a super drive but your g4 is.

btw you also get spearhead and breakthrough expansions?

the g5 is a superdrive
the g4 is not (as much as i would wish otherwise...)

believe me i don't think my old powermac is going to turn around after about 5 years and surprise me by having a dvd capacity. but it has never let me down and i was 'entertained' that my new fancy pants g5 was not reading a cd rom while my old 466 was more than happy to oblige!

the medal of honor game came with two install cd's and yes they were big files! i only picked up the aa moh as it was $20 (which in australia is cheap...i guess), i did pick up the 3 pack then put it down...perhaps i should of got it!?

i was thinking of trying battlefield or call to duty at some point which i think was in the back of my mind. i've downloaded the battlefield demo but haven't had much chance to take a look at it (though i don't know how good the single player will be and that's what i'd be buying it for).

That doesn't make any sense. Superdrive or not, Apple hasn't shipped a CD-only machine (i.e., without at least a combo drive) in quite a while. There are NO G5 machines (including iMac G5s) that wont at least read a DVD-ROM.
