There isn't, yet. Sid has stated that he'd like to see Mac versions of both Civ IV and Pirates!, but that nothing is begun yet. I suspect that there was some sort of falling out over how much patching was required on the original Civ III, but I'm just guessing here.

durn. I was reading the pay article in PC Gamer (or similar) and it looks really great. I may have to buy this one for the PC until it hits Macs.

Personally, I'll reserve my judgement for when I see if they've fixed the battle system. The one in Civ III sucks, and I have to say that it doesn't really look good there. We'll see though. All in all, Civ III was a so-so game, to be honest - it hasn't held up nearly as well as the earlier Civs or SMAC, and the only reason I still fire it up on occasion is to play one of the mods. That's the upside to Civ IV - it looks like it can be modded rather extensively - but many mods aren't playtested enough to be worth playing.

I want another Alpha Centauri game! Its still super good, and someone made an OS X port for it. Its animation is a bit dated these days, but thats it. Everything else is top notch. I enjoy it more then Civ III.

The game I enjoyed more than Civ and Civ 2 was Master of Orion 2. I played that game to death, but was extremely disappointed with Master of Orion 3, which was buggy as hell and severely unbalanced.

The dev team for Civ IV have said that they have removed all of the terrorist dirty tricks you could pull in earlier games.

It's a game people.

I love how some customers would be super-offended by it, after buying a game so they could launch unprovoked invasions all over the world.

By terrorist dirty tricks are you referring to the espionage options? I rarely used them as they were so expensive, I can't believe people object to this.

Civ III is a great game. Battles may be simplified and can sometimes create unlikely results, but this is balanced overall by the strategic depth of the game. There is still plenty of tactical strategy involved. I am angry however that it was not multiplayer, lacking even an email play option. I will not buy Civ IV if it lacks such features.

I enjoyed using terrorism in Civ II now and then just to shake things up a little. My favorite was sending an agent to plant a nuclear bomb in an enemy city, and then pointing the finger at some other country when it goes off.

I for one dont hope they'll port Pirates, since itll probably flop... Yeah, it got nice graphics, and is very fun to play for a short while, but it is VERY repetitive!

But CivIV? Gimmegimmegimmegimmegimmegimme!!!
