I just got Sims 2 at the Apple Store. Stupid me, I didn't check the system requirements, and it says you have to have at least a G4. If anyone tries it on a G3 or has any idea if it'll work on a G3, I'd love to hear it! Otherwise, I'm not opening the box and I'll have to return it.

I picked up my copy from the Apple store this past Friday. I'm running it on a 1.33GHz G4 Powerbook with 768MB of RAM. I have the graphics settings set at generally medium levels. There is a bit of sluggishness during gameplay at high activity, but it runs pretty good.

this game is awesome, i have it running at 1920x1200, all the graphics setting maxed out, runs fine until you have a big house with lots of furniture and more than 1 ppl, it can get real choppy...

and i have a dual 2.7ghz G5 with 4.5GB Ram, and an ATI Radeon 9650, playing on a 30" cinema...
I wonder if an ATI x800 XT or a Nvidia 6800 card would help improve gameplay a lot on this game?

If anyone has a dual 2.7ghz with same setup as me but one of those 2 graphics card, can you please let me know if it runs well, even in a big house with 8 ppl? If it runs fine with no lag, i'll go get myself a new grpahics card if it will improve greatly.

No I don't think it will run, sorry. but I will try it on my imac 450 if i get it, I will probably just get a deal on the sims(original)though. I doubt that its optimized for altivec though so other than the other processing cores in the g4 they are very similar so if your g3 meets the megahertz rating it might work.

The PC version runs like a pig as well. I had to upgrade my wife's PC before the game became playable.
I do not suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it!

When I had a PC several months ago I played Sims 2 a bit (borrowed a copy from a friend) and while I didn't enjoy it at all (never liked any of the Sim games), it did run just fine. Of course, I was using some pretty heavy-duty hardware... Athlon 64 3000+, 1 GB RAM, GeForce 6800 128 MB.

I'm kind of afraid to see how it would run on my Mac after gaming on the PC...

"That's Mama Luigi to you, Mario!" *wheeze*
