I just got a copy of Jedi Academy (yes,I am years behind everyone else, humor me). I am having problems with 2 levels. One level (Tanaab) gives me an error that says:
CMod_LoadBrushes
bad
ShaderNum
-2130706461

The other level (Chandrila) just quits the second I try to play it.

I have applied the update from Aspyr (1.0.1c) and that does not change anything.

Soooo, I am guessing I will have to reinstall. But, if possible I would like to keep my saved games. Does anyone know where these are stored? Is it possible to reinstall without losing my saved games?

I tried to email Aspyr on this but they have not responded.

Peace,

O

Okay, I found out where the games are stored...it's users/library/application support/jedi academy/base/saves

I backed up my data and reinstalled...no luck...I'm getting the same error message. What I now need is to know if someone would be willing to help me out (someone with JA installed). I can email my saved games files (~360k). Then you can add them and you can let me know if you have the same problem. If so, I know it's a corrupt game file. If you can use it, I know something funky is going on with my install of JA.

If you are willing to help me test this out, please PM me, and I will email you the files, with a little more instruction.

Thank you,

O

Guess that would have been helpful, huh...my bad...

I am using a 1.5Ghz 15" PowerBook G4 with 768MB Ram, and the 128MB VRam (the machines introduced a little over a year ago). I'm running 10.3.9, and pretty much keep that up to date via software update. I do have a license for 10.4, but I wanted to completely wipe my machine before I install that, and I simply have not had time to do the back up, and reinstall yet.

Anyway, if you (or another kind soul) has Jedi Academy and are willing to help me test to see if my problem is a corrupted game file vs an install (and perhaps even video card compatability) issue, I would be very gracious.

Thank you,

Bounce!

If anyone else out there has used Jedi Academy on a Powerbook and successfully played all levels of the game, can you let me know. I am not certain if I have a bad install CD. I am guessing it's a Hardware compatability issue though since I can play several levels without any problems, and now that I get to these levels it errors out on me.

Thank you,

O

I've played through the game. I'm not aware of any outstanding issues like you describe. Have you installed any 3rd party mods?

Issue resolved - Apparently my CD had a corrupted file called assets0.pk3 in the Jedi Academy/base folder. To test whether it was corrupted I changed the extension from .pk3 to .zip and tried to unzip the file.

I was able to replace this file (thanks to Aspyr) and that solved my problem. I'm posting this solution in case someone else encounters the same problem. Once I replaced the assets0.pk3 file with a non-corrupted file, everything worked out just fine.

Again, I am using a 15" Powerbook, 1GB Ram (upgraded since first post), 128MB Vram (Radeon Mobility 9700), OS 10.4.2 (upgraded from first post)
