I'm having a horrible time trying to play WoW over my wireless LAN. Here is the situation: I have a G5 with an Airport Extreme card and WoW has basically become unplayable when I connect wirelessly. Shortly after I launch WoW the Netgear router will usually die completely (I also have a Linksys wireless router, which will die as well). I'll be able to hit its admin page, but nothing on the outside internet. Resetting it solves the issue. All other kinds of browsing and network activity don't cause any problems.
I went through some tests... WoW plays fine over the wireless network using my Dell laptop and a D-Link wireless card. No latency issues and the router behaves. It plays fine when the laptop is hardwired in. It also plays perfectly fine when the G5 is hardwired in. The only time issues arise is when I am playing wirelessly on my Mac. I went through these tests with both routers. So... I've come to the conclusion that the problem is my Aiport Extreme card (or the router(s) for not communicating with it properly).
Is anyone else able to play WoW flawlessly over a wireless connection with an Airport Extreme card and a non-Apple router? I'm thinking I could either get an Aiport Express... or grab some 3rd-party wireless card for the G5. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Some latency issues, but thats all. Not optimal wireless connection near my desk – actually just suitable for browsing. I prefer to use ethernet for "realtime" tasks like WOW or for streaming content (internet radio and the like) unless I am within a radius of a few meters from the router. Dl-614+ from D-Link. You can search versiontracker.com for "MacStumbler". Its an application you can use to quickly measure your wireless reception among other things.
I'll suggest you to look for firmware updates for your router and search the official WOW forums for router related issues. It appears that there are certain router models that doesn't work to well with WOW when brand specific technologies are turned on on the router. Further, I would applied bug/support report to those companies that are in charge, Blizzard etc, where you find it appropriated.

Which Netgear Router do you have? I might have the same one, and if so that will be terrible if i have a problem with WoW when i buy my ibook. I am already having problems with my netgear router with XBOX live.

Hey AlphaQuam!
I am using AE and an Airport Xpress box to connect, with both my G5, and iBook. Other than marginally higher latency than a wired connection, I get no probs at all.
I remember seeing in the WoW tech support forums, a large post concerning the exact issue you describe with that router... well worth a search. I am sure you are not the only one experiencing this...
Hope you get it sorted,
Sos
