Soon? I really doubt it. It may come to the Mac, but if it does, it'll be quite some time still. Aspyr just announced their newest porting project, which is Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 (boooo), so I don't think they'll start another until that one is done.
Also, BF2 uses Gamespy for a server browser, and Gamespy recently screwed us Mac users by upping their licensing fees so much that a Mac porter could never justify the cost, so it's basically not even an option for us Mac users anymore. I'm not sure if or how Aspyr/whoever could get around that....
I know Ryan Gordon came up with a way to bypass it for America's Army, but I don't think that is a viable option for commercial games.

Yeah, I but it's the most antisipated (I know it's spelt wrong) game that we're waiting to be ported to mac, I REALLY hope that it doesn't taking 8-12 months to port BF2, I think I going to spam a few companys that port games for mac about how many they could sell and how much money they could make it they ported it for mac as soon as possible and before all the other company's can get to it.

From most reports, it looks like you're better off buying a PC to play BF2...

Yeah that's what all my friends (just about all have pcs) say whenever I bring up how badly i want All Counter-Strikes/Half Life 1&2/ battlefield 2/ Rose Online and I at least wish Command and Counquer Generals is cheaper for Mac ($50: on mac... $20: ON PC!). But I'm holding strong;

Well, here's what I say to that: since I'm so productive, and make my money with Macs, I can afford to buy a PC for what they're worth: gaming.

I believe the term is "Wintendo"
Wintendo noun: A PC running MS Windows for the sole purpose of playing games. BSD, Linux, and Mac OS users frequently have a Windows machine whose sole purpose is to play certain games that are only available for Windows (i.e. Half-life, BattleField2, etc).
Used in a sentence: Now that I am done being productive on my Mac, it's time to fire up the Wintendo to pwn some noobzors.

I would feel kind of stupid if I started a new thread while this one was basically on the top... plus the thread has kind of strayed from B2. Anyway, C&C Generals... I've read that the expansion pack (Zero Hour) is only Mac to Mac online... but for the main verson (just C&C Generals) it doesn't come out and say that on any review i've read. So what i was wondering is that; can I play Mac to PC on the main/regular version?
P.S. Wintendo... lol...

Stay with Blizzard and you won't be disappointed. Otherwise, get over the fact that the Mac is not a toy and that the situation will be even worse once the few gaming developers for the platform have to deal with the bifurcation Mactel will bring.

Let's hope that BF2 never comes to the Mac. EA really messed up the release of this game. Plagued with bugs, EA releases a 1.01 patch. But patch 1.01 added another 100 bugs to the game and now causes the game to exhibit a huge memory leak. So EA releases a 1.02 patch, but the 1.02 installer program states you are about to install 1.01. EA says to ignore that. But the 1.02 patch didn't help much and EA finally says to just completely remove BF2 from your system and install from the original disks and wait for patch 1.03.
I have an AMD 2.1 GHz, 1GB RAM, Geforce 6600GT, SATA HDD. It literally takes 4 minutes to connect to a server and load the map and all the graphics.
And the fact you have to login to Gamespy to play is really lame. I'd take the game back if I could.

Yeah, who cares about gameplay... the game has bugs, and is therefore crap. Makes sense... not.

A gaming console is a much cheaper way to play video games. You also don't have to deal with Windows.

You've never played it I assume. The game is unplayable.

Some developers and publishers are infamous for releasing buggy games, and some are even more infamous for releasing patches that do more harm than good. We recently saw this situation unfold with EA and DICE, the developers behind the Battlefield series, with their first patch for Battlefield 2. In a depressingly familiar routine for Battlefield fans, the patch caused more problems than it solved, by inflicting massive memory leaks and leaving the game unplayable after a sustained period of play. That presumes that you're one of the players lucky enough to be able to launch the game in the first place, and make your way through the dodgy-since-release menu system.

People are overreacting... I play the game almost daily during lunch break.
We have over 20 people here who play the game regularly... no bug's stopping us, that's for sure.

People are not reacting enough. No one should accept the level of crap EA pushed out for not only BF 2, but BF and BF: Vietnam. BF, after the many of patches released is a game that is very playable.

well, I have a friend that played BF2 for 10 hours straight from the time he installed it... it sounds pretty playable. But can some one help me with one quick question?: C&C Generals... I've read that the expansion pack (Zero Hour) is only Mac to Mac online... but for the main verson (just C&C Generals) it doesn't really come out and say that on any review I've read. So what I was wondering is that; can I play Mac to PC online on the main/regular version?

No, the original C&C: Generals is NOT playable between PCs and Macs. Same for Zero Hour. Such a pity.
Back to BF2: I just assembled a PC largely to play this game. I'm installing the SW tonight, can't wait! For those who don't want to get a PC: a similar version of BF2 is on its way for current and next-gen consoles. It may not play quite as well as a PC, but playing it on an Xbox 360 will not be a bad alternative.

2.Well I don't know how much cheaper the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, ect. are going to be in comparison to a cheap gaming PC... (plus with Xbox your probally going to have to pay for Xbox Live)

The Xbox360 is $399 for the full package, which includes XBL:

The BF2 version for the consoles will be quite a bit different though. It even has a different name: BF2 - Modern Combat. It will even make it's way to the PSP. I'm not even sure if it has multiplayer, because I've heard it's really geared around the single player missions on the consoles.
