I was recently wondering if there was a simple way to get some old Amiga games to run on my PowerBook under Tiger. Specifically, I was thinking about Oil Imperium, Ports of Call or North and South.

I know there are emulators around, but do they really work? And how do you get the games? Have some of them been OS'ed? Is there a simple way to get one of these games up and running in 5min w/o having to break half a dozen laws?

OOOooooooo, my two fav games some 15 years ago. They don't make em like that anymore...

I wonder what ever happened to reLINE.

If you find a solution, would you rip the Oil Imperium soundtracks and stash it somewhere for me? =P

you should be able to run these games using UAE (http://www.freiburg.linux.de/~uae/). it's been a few years since i ran it on my non-Mac machine but Speedball2 ran! the only problem was that i missed having a joystick to play it with.

some of these games can be found as ADF (disk files) on the internet or usenet groups.

edit: this one (http://www.rcdrummond.net/uae/) seems to be 3 years more recent.

edit2: a whole bunch of AbandonWare games are at: http://amigos.amiga.hu/ancientoys/archive.html

Well, I got UAE and even managed to find two Oil Imperium disk image files, but I couldn't get it to work. UAE crashed right on startup. Any tips how to get this stuff running?

Ports of Call is included in the AMIGA Forever collection - runs without problems in UAE.
