Civilization 4 is about to be released! GREAT NEWS, except it doesn't seem like it will be simultaneously released with the peecee version. no big surprise, and i can 't find any information on a mac release. too bad firaxis isn't like blizzard!
in any case, i pray to God that the mac version will come out shortly after the initial release. the game looks badass, i can't wait. i'm currently playing WoW and my interest in the game is slowly but steadily dropping down as the months pass by. civilzation, to me, is a game that has a timeless quality about it, and it can be played over and over for many years with great longevity and no loss in the fun factor.
does anyone know how long it took firaxis to release the mac version of civilization 3 after it's initial peecee release?

PC version in late October -01 and Mac version early January -02. Which was all to the good, beacuse the PC version was hardly playable before the first patch, which the Mac version came with from the start.
I havent' heard anything, and the lack of expansions wasn't promising, but Civ has always been a successful game on the Mac side - even the rather lack-luster Civ III sold fairly well, I think.

P brings up a good point.
Some of us believe we're unlucky to get access to games 3-6 months after the PC release...but most of these games have bugs (some of them really annoying). When the Mac version is released, it's normally using the latest codebase (which means it's using the latest PC patch.)
Let the PC users beta test game for us.

ahh good points, never thought about that. i'm just not patient! i know when it comes out my friend will be playing it on his peecee and i will go home and i won't be able to play. oh well, WoW will suit me fine until civ4 is released. thanks for the replies

Unfortunatley, I doubt the turn-around will be so quick this time. To date, there's been no mention of a Mac version anywhere. The new owners of the rights to Civ don't seem eager to start development.
