I am about to purchase WoW and was wondering if you can play this game off line? I know I'm not going to spend $20 a month for the next year just to play this one game. And I'd hate to have the game sitting on my shelf collecting dust.

Thanks in advance.

No. That's why it's called a Massively Multiplayer Online Game rather than a Normal Single-Player Game.

But it looks like you have an Internet connection anyway…

What?! You mean you wouldn't spend $20 a month to hang out with a bunch of nerds pretending to be elven babes or husky paladins battling the forces of evil?

Neither would I.

Or idiots pretending they're space marines shooting BFGs at aliens and demons? Or the really sad f@#$ers who pretend they're driving exotic cars, in cities that they're too pathetic to actuallly visit?

To hell with all gaming then, and what's more, to hell with having an imagination... just to make the "thought police" (like you) happy.

You could, until Blizzard finds it and sues. Basically if you pay to play. Other methods are illegal.

Mind you, the first month is included in the initial cost, so you could play it for a month. Also, when you cancel payments they will keep your characters, so that if you resume payments 6 months later your characters are still on your account.

And I wouldn't pay $20 either. $12, yes.

What games like that require $20 a month?

They require more, unless you want to keep playing the exact same thing forever. And if you want to play Halo against anything but the horrible computer, same deal.

also, at MOST it's $15 /mo. People pay that much a month for games, unless they want to keep playing the same thing over and over again, as mentioned previously. Unlike static games, MMORPS have dymanic content, allowing for more play time.

If a person can't afford $15 /mo, then they should likely be working to provide more income instead of playing games... because, damn, they're already in a world of hurt.

If a casual gamer plays 12hrs /wk (which is the WoW avg), that's 48hrs /mo, or .31 /hr. That's CHEAP entertainment.

If you cannot swing the 15.00 per month and the huge time blackhole, just load Diablo II. Similar systems and offline play.
