I've downloaded the XIII demo from Macgamefiles several times to try this game but everytime, when trying to launch the game, I get a "Cannot find ini.Engine.Engine. file" then the splash screen just closes.

Does anyone know where I can download a working demo of XIII?

thanks

It's not a problem with the download. If the download were bad, it simply wouldn't unstuff.

If the package unstuffs and installs fine, the problem is with your system/setup.

Do you have the game installed in the Applications folder on your startup drive?

I've installed it to a Games Folder in the root drive. Is there another place this should go?

Try running it from the Applications folder. Sometimes games have problems running from anywhere else.

The retail version of XIII and the demo can both run fine outside of the /Application folder.

azukizero, what OS are you using? What hardware? Are you running any Haxies? If so, try disabling them for the Demo app or just disable them all together.
Inside the Data folder, there should be a Default.ini folder. Make sure that's there. Also, dig into your Preferences folder and find the Ubisoft folder. There should be another folder called XIII Demo inside. Open that up and make sure XIII.ini exists.

Thanks for the help. I'm on a dual 1.8 G5 with OS 10.3.9, not running any Haxies. Both of the files you mentioned are in there.

As soon as I click Play, with the default settings, the splash screen pops up and immediately afterward, the error comes up.

The best place to get support for a Feral title is via our support email address, using the support tab built into XIII.

Feral Titles can run from any folder or hard-drive and they don't need to be in the Applications folder.

I think I have answered azukizero's problem in a support email a few hours ago, if anyone needs any more help just send an email to the xiii support email address and we will get back to you asap.

Cheers,

Edwin

ASAP? i sent feral an email about 2 weeks ago and i'm still waiting for a reply. it concerned the bug where you're on the roof and receive the grappling hook from the major. she turns around to go up first and then the game doesn't allow you to do anything after that.

I am sorry that you don't appear to have had a response from Feral. I have checked the system and seen an email from a customer from a few weeks ago with a similar problem, that ticket was replied to and we never got a response back from the customer if our suggestions worked.

If you resend your email with a support report we will get back to you with suggestions. Also I would like to ask if you can quickly check your spam filter, (if you have one) as sometimes people report they did not get answers and in fact it was the spam filter deleting the support answers.

Cheers,

Edwin

OK, have you resent the original email to our support system? If you are still getting problems send me a PM as well with your email and problem and I will get your support ticket working and hopefully solve your freeze.

Cheers,

Edwin
