Players can look forward to:

New Player Races: New allies will join the game, expanding the story line and allowing players to develop powerful new characters within the world.

Higher Level Limit: The game’s level cap is being raised to 70, and every new level will offer meaningful spell, ability, and talent upgrades for each character class.

New Lands and Battlegrounds: Explore the magical realms of the Blood Elves, journey through the Dark Portal into untamed Outland, and visit dungeons and battlefields previously inaccessible to players.

Flying Mounts: In Outland, players will gain access to unique airborne mounts that will allow for smoother travel over some of that region’s more hazardous terrain.

Jewelcrafting, Socketable Items, and More: Crafters will be pleased to know that the expansion adds an all-new profession to the game: Jewelcrafting. With Jewelcrafting comes the advent of socketable items in World of Warcraft, which will give players additional variety in how they can customize their gear. In addition, existing professions will be enhanced to take advantage of the increased character-level limit.

New Quests, New Monsters, and New Challenges: As the boundaries of World of Warcraft are stretched farther than ever before, there will be exciting new quests for players to undertake and new monsters to confront. And with greater challenges come greater rewards….

Any guesses as to the new Alliance race? Pandaren seems to be the most likely possibility, unless Blizzard is going to invent an all new race.

No need to invent a new race at all, you have the Draenei for example.

Yeah, but the Draenei homeland is in the Outland, so that wouldn't work too well.

That's why it would work well. Outland is the focus of the expansion. Most of the Blood Elves followed Illidan into Outland, and the ones left behind are trying to follow. That's their angle. The Draenei have an even better reason for wanting to go back to Outland.

i don't know the warcraft storyline so i don't fully know how everything links together, but i was under the impression that outland would be the area for high levels to get from 60-70 so putting a new race starting area in the hardest area of the game wouldn't make much sense. i'm thinking maybe those unmarked islands in the great sea are where the new races will start.

not all who wander are lost.

They wouldn't have to start in Outland. There are Draenei in the Swamp of Sorrows in Azeroth.

Don't know about the mystery race, but Blood Elves are going to start in the northeast, by the Plaguelands, according to Blizzard's site.

Well to my mind, assuming the new alliance race starting area will be in the world (of warcraft) that we know at the moment, Gilneas would be the most obvious place for them to be - whatever those guys have become behind that wall. And if they're still 'human', then they can just introduce that little bit of difference, like between night elves and blood elves, to justify it .

Also then Kul Tiras and those other WC2 important islands could be their starting areas.
