I have a new iMac Duo Core here now(2GHz)*grin*, and for some reason I get no Audio while playing the game.
I know the game is an old one, but it was only last year it was ported from legacy to OS X.
The Audio works fine in other applications and in the finder.
This is the first game I've tried on my new mac.
Has anyone else had Audio problems with Unreal OS X on Mactels?

Are you talking Unreal or UT. The beta 3 of UT for OS X has no music because the music part of it couldn't be ported, at the time, to OS X. As far as I know, Unreal was never ported to OS X.

Nope. Audio works great. No music though. That's what itunes is for. And yeah, I think he's talking UT.

Incorrect, I have a carbon port of Unreal sitting here right on my computer. Performs wonderfully except theres no music.

And yes, it is Unreal not Unreal Tournament.

As much as I (and others) would like to believe you, I can't. Unreal was never ported to OS X...at least not in a public manner.

Nobody can help you since nobody has a carbon Unreal. Some of us have the Unreal Tourney port that was done by Glenda Adams a few years ago...but not Unreal. And unless you can produce some screenshots of Unreal running in OS X (and not some TC of Unreal running in Unreal Tourney), it'll be hard for anyone to help, let alone believe you.

I believe macontologist is confusing the original UT with Unreal. Wasn't much music if I remember in Unreal, more sound effects.

The original UT came out around 1999 and was mainly a multi-player online game (with a single player ladder). Unreal came out a couple years before that and was a single player game with a lot of adventure and great graphics (at the time), with a multi-player game (the days of dial-up multi-player).

Agree. UT is not the same as Unreal. Unreal wasn't ported to OSX, UT was. Here's a link. If this is what you are referring to: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12059, then you got owned. Only not by SWG this time.

Horsepoo, Leonard and Tardbus are about to get bitchslapped OWNED

CARBON PORT OF UNREAL APP -> http://homepage.mac.com/lorna/.Public/UnrealOSX.zip

OWNED

Note to mods: This is not copyright infringement actually it falls under the fair use exemption. The app by itself, not the support files, is being supplied for scholarly purposes. It does not affect the Unreal market since Unreal is not being sold, and it requires that the downloader have an original installed copy of Unreal already to see if it works. Thanks

Edit: You will also need this file in order to get your original install of Unreal to fully function in OS X

Well *I* didn't get owned. I saved my ass with this magical phrase "...at least not in a public manner. "

Even you admit it's not a public build.

And don't expect anyone to help you with that attitude.

If you really want help, why don't you ask the guy that ported it?

Actually I just learned that it's a hacked version of the UT OS X build, but uses the unreal files and changes around some thing.

Horsepoo I mean no offense, sometimes i just like to get a rise out of people, especially Leia's Left Bun and "own" them a lot.

Hehe...no offense taken. I also get a kick out of the same things...I think it's quite alright (provided you don't mind the consequences such as not getting any help).

But now that you mention that it's a hacked UT OS X build...that could mean the real UT OS X build suffers the same problems... I wonder if Ryan Gordon completely abandoned his port of UT (which was supposed to be done a looong time ago...he hit some snags that prevented him from releasing anything.)

I suppose I should apologize to Glenda Adams. I once ripped into her for taking so long (on the UT OS X port being done out of good will.) So...here it is...I'm sorry, Glenda.

Well, I suppose I could send her an e-mail too. She used to drop by here every now and then.

I tried the Unreal_X file you uploaded, doesn't work here... There's just a window popping up, "MissingIni:". Yet the Unreal.ini is in the same folder.
I see different inis for OS9 and OX in my UT folder though...

any idea here?

The system.u file is updated (2003) thats what you're probably missing.

I'm attaching a zip file that includes all the post-1999 files in the Unreal folder I have. It should be self explanatory as to where to put each file.

You couldn't tell it was a hacked version of the carbon UT99 app based on the icon and the Get Info screen?

Is the Hacked UT app network compatible with Unreal servers or Unreal Tournament servers?

Hey, I have a question...I downloaded the mod/hack for Unreal. It starts up, but then stops on

Failed to enter Entry: Cant find IntProperty in file 'IntProperty Engine.PlayerPawn.Netspeed':

Any ideas as to what is happening? I installed it from the CD using classic, then installed the updates (I have 224b1, 224b2, 224b3, 224b4, and 224b7), and then patched using the files provided. Running X 10.4.4, on a Mac Mini if that helps any. Thanks in advance...

Edit: After snooping around some, I found out the problem lies in UnrealShare...I get 'Opening Package UnrealShare' and then it pops up the error. Again, thanks in advance.
