I've ordered an Intel iMac to replace my kids' 400 MHz G4, which is about to give up the ghost after 6 years of service. My daughter is quite distressed that she might not be able to play SC4K or Zoo Tycoon CE (NOT ZT 2) on her new computer, so I thought I'd see if anyone here had tried either of these games under Rosetta so I can either put her mind at ease or prepare her for the worst...

Thanks in advance

Do they run in classic or are they OS X native? If they're native, they'll run just fine in Rosetta. If they're classic only, there's no way they'll run. Sorry.

lol

It was a gift, and she opened the software b/f I could get to her. Slow, slow, slow. She was hoping it would work on the new Intel iMac. Zoo Tycoon CE runs fine on the G4, but I've been unable to find anyone who has run it on one of the Intel boxes.

Both games are OS X, btw.

Sim City 4 Deluxe plays very well on a Intel Mac.

The graphics are bit grainy though, and resolution switching is not 100% functional.

OK, got the iMac and have installed SC4 and it does seem to run well enough.

But for the life of me I can't find the serial number on the back of the CD case to register the game with Maxis/EA. Anyone know where the heck I'm supposed to find it?

There isn't one, and you can't thanks to the lack of interest on EA's part in doing anything that could help out Mac users.

Simtropolis has a nice community for SC4 players on OS X.
