And it won't run on the Intel minis as well. This is too steep IMHO when even Quake 4 runs on G4s.

CoD 2 runs pretty badly even on our high-end benchmark stations at work. A 2.7 GHz Athlon 64 and two GeForce 7900 GTX OCs in SLI only manage ~70 FPS at 1024x768 with high detail. There's no way it'll even be close to playable on most G5 systems.

It plays fine on my iMac Core Duo in XP. I'd like to do a comparison of fps in XP and the OS X version when it comes out. Anyone want to front $50 for my experiment?

Yeah the game is well known for bringing even powerful Windows systems to their knees. I suspect there will be a lot of indignant posts in here when people find out just how demanding the game is, and assume it's due to crappy porting.

Crappy porting... and an OS that isn't a great 3d gaming platform doesn't mix well.

Sounds like it's ok on XP in an iMac. Thank you, boot camp. My friend has an Athlon setup similar to those above and it runs great for him.

As mentioned by Glenda in the IMG forums:

Many parts of the game are playable on slightly slower Macs than the minimum, if you turn everything down, but there are some more complex levels that just drop too low to be playable. We wanted to set the reqs so the min. mac could play all the way through the game (not like the problem we had with some of the MOH expansions).

Of course under spec systems are unsupported, but you are welcome to give it a try.

Your best bet is a dual G4 for lower end systems.
