I just downloaded RockNes and couldn't get it hooked up with Gravis Gamepro Pad joystick to play some of these games.
Next, I downloaded Nestopia and installed Emulator Enhancer for joystick.. nothing seems to work?
Am I missing something?? I'm new with this.. I dont like to use the keyboard to play the games.. it's hassle. I'd prefer the joystick.
Any help would be appreicated.
Thanks.

usually you have to download a driver for the gamepad. My iShock comes iwth it's own utility.

Tried USB Overdrive? That's what I used to get mine working, because I remember using that exact gamepad with NES emulators wayback.

Do *not* use USB Overdrive in conjunction with apps that implement HID properly (such as RockNES and Nestopia)...USB Overdrive is a poor hack that doesn't play well with many apps.
Simply open the the Preferences window in RockNES or Nestopia and find the tab that lets you change the gamepad button settings.
There's also no need to install any drivers unless you need very specific features (but there are no specific features on your Gravis gamepad so forget the drivers.)

How fast is your computer? If it's 800MHz+ I recommend that you download the latest Nestopia and the latest Emulator Enhancer from this page: http://www.bannister.org/software/emu.htm
If you've got something slower than 800MHz, you might have to find an early version of RockNES + an early version of Emulator Enhancer. Go to http://www.emuscene.com, create an account and ask for an early version of RockNES and Emulator Enhancer on the 'Emulation' forum.

That's perfect. So if you've got the latest Nestopia and latest Emulator Enhancer, simply read the instructions on how to install Emulator Enhancer...you should then be able to configure your gamepad.

If these emulators support USB through HIDManager (and I suspect most of them do), then they should all work fine with any standard HID gamepad (which the Gravis Gamepad Pro is).
However, if you really want to get serious about emulation with gamepads, then you may want to consider going the slightly more expensive route to really do it properly. These guys sell original controllers converted to USB HID devices, and can also convert existing controllers if you have them. If you're good with a soldering iron they'll even sell you the kit to do it yourself.
