I don't Know if it's my fault, or if Aspyr just Sucks, but gaming isn't fun anymore. The last three titels I've bought (all at at least $40) have been absolute headaches. The Sims 2 was great until I bought Nightlife, but now a few pieces of custom content is enough to cause everything from items magically dissappearing to complete crashes (once it even froze time). Yes, I realize Aspyr and EA can't support custom content, but I shouldn't have to delete all of it just to launch a house.

Civilization 4 caused 5 kernal panics until I found the issue (anti-aliasing, apparently) and is still nerve-racking (it still occasionally crashes).

And in Call of Duty 2 I had to play the first mission 3 times because the game would crash (even at lowest Graphical settings) whenever one specific machine gun would open fire.

Maybe this is a side-effect of still new Universal Releases (I'm on a MBP 1.83 w/ 2GB RAM), but it seems like all of these (Rather Expensive) games should barely be considered Betas, and all ore a lot of work just to keep running. I'm beginning to think games are just getting too complex, and Aspyr needs to test their games more intensively. I want to enjoy games, not fight them.

Sounds like something is up in your computer.

Clean install of OS X?

Clean install of games?

Any custom drivers you've installed?

What about "hack" apps such as Unsanity's APE or SIMIL?

Seriously man, I think it's your computer. I've been glitch free with all of those games since they came out.

Actually they're all more or less known issues (def. with Civ 4 - and the recent patch helped, and the Sims 2 was fine until Nightlife, even then it's Custom Content thing). I got past the one machine gun, btw, and since then COD 2 has been fine. I had just spent the day fighting 2 games and was utterly frustrated with Aspyr. Btw, are you guys using PowerPC, because I suspect the Intel versions (especially Nightlife) aren't as far along as the PowerPC code.

Oh, and I my have exagerated a little ... thye've all been stable and fast since then.

Kind of cool though, but yeah you might want to condense it.
For the record, I fixed the Sims 2 issue, turns out I had some accidental University objects that nightlife activated, but couldn't use... ooops.
Here's to hoping for a COD 2 patch, though.

Yes, gaming is supposed to be fun.

But yeah, with that many games not working, something might be happening on your end, imo.

I didn't know about the signature specifications. Care to point me in the right direction?
