Global Thermonuclear War: DEFCON - Introversion software

From the group that did Darwinia.

Looks good and my buddy has been enjoying the beta.

They say the Mac version is being published by Ambrosia - any word on availability?

Sounds upbeat...

But seriously, any new game for the Mac seems like a bonus.

David

EDIT: I've watched the videos, and I'm baffled. It looks gorgeous, like cutscenes from a movie, but I don't understand how it's played or how you win.

I feel I should post in this thread!

For your info, Defcon runs fine under Boot Camp XP, and also runs using Crossover! However, in Crossover as soon as you try and join an internet game it quits instantly. This is a real shame, although you can play against AI opponents.

Brilliant game, looks lovely and the music is very atmospheric.

I was playing in a window in Crossover... just change the Screen option in the game itself.

According to Ambrosia, it's in active development and will probably hit beta quite soon.

They'll start talking release dates when that happens.

Sounds upbeat! But it requires online authentication in order to unlock all features.

Ironically it plays better in Crossover than it does in Vista on my actual PC. MUCH better. On my Vista Box (P4 3.6, X700) it's completely unplayable. On my Mac under Crossover it's perfect, aside from a few control glitches.
