Yeah, i see exactly what you mean. So with "sixaxis" your arms are going to be flaling all over the place like that guy from the warhawk demo at E3, in like EVERY game for the PS3...crazy.

Funny how you pick on the Wii for the movement involved, but completely ignore the same problem with every PS3 game.

(sarcasm obviously. since most of us with half a mind know that not every game on the PS3 or Wii will require large sweeping movements. i just find it funny that you always pick on Nintendo, and then claim your not a fanboy).

You don't mean to but they put a wrist strap on it for a reason. Some reviews have already mentioned that "casual gamers" put remote size holes in the drywall.

Anywho, this poll is rather surprising or not:

"According to poll results from the Weekly Reader Research, American children from ages 5-18 said "they would prefer to have" a PlayStation 3 over all the other systems. Be prepared, these results may shock you:

40% want a PS3
25% want an Xbox 360
22% want a Nintendo Wii
13% would rather have none (we'll call these the bastard children)"

So what to no online games, so what to DVD player, so what graphics, so what to audio. If Nintendo's next system was a ball with a string attached to it would you say "So what, it is fun, that is all that matters".

P.S. it isn't ONE game, every game is just above cube if not equal to them. Saying "Graphics don't matter" is like saying "She has a nice personality".

I see two factors at work here:

1) Many of these kids already have an Xbox, so of course they don't want one.

2) They're polling ****ing 5-year-olds who have no idea that there isn't a single worthwhile game for the PS3 and just think, "Uh, Playstation is what you play video games with, right?"

Suggesting that graphics make or break a game is like saying "OOOH SHINY LIGHTS!" Yeah, graphics matter somewhat, but they are nowhere near the most important thing.

Hmm... funny i thought the PS3 was for the hardcore and Wii was for kids...looks like the PS3 is a kiddie system after all...and an expensive one too.

For interactive computing i get a Mac cause it makes the best use the Mouse and Keyboard.

For ineractive gaming, ill probably get a Wii cause of the...surprise surprise.."interactivity".

For awesome graphics and sound....ill goto the local movie theater and watch the latest Pixar/Dreamworks animated feature. After all, why should i settle for second rate(to motion pictures) graphics on the PS3 ? Besides, i if 3-18 year olds find the PS3 at the top of their list, why on earth would a grown man want one ?..ill get the Wii which is geared for everyone (including me).

To reiterate:

Poll results gathered from children mean little. Children don't have the emotional or rational maturity to make up their own minds about something like and are more likely to respond to what their friends have or like, than to respond according to their own analysis.

Also, if I had a kid old enough to play video games and I were getting a new system, it'd be a Wii, not an XBox or a PS3, based on Nintendo's slightly more kid-friendly philosophy and cost, regardless if my kid "wants" another system instead. And he better be happy with that or he's just not getting anything.

Anyway, I say screw polls. There are a lot of factors involved here, including developer commitment, availability of console systems, cost, reliability (in the case of the Wii remote/sensor bar and other consoles' potential issues) and game variety. We'll see the real voting begin when all the systems are available to the general public, and we'll see the results a few years from now.

I think this has been a pretty fair and reasonable discussion so far, with a variety of opinions, viewpoints and concerns, even from the enthusiastic. But if nothing of the Wii entices you at all, then obviously it's really not for you and no amount of discussion will change that.

Fun is all that matters. These are games we're talking about, after all.

Online play has still only proven itself in two genres, both of which the PC will continue to monopolize for a long time: FPS and MMORPG. DVD is fluff, the graphics are perfectly decent (that one Ubisoft racing game notwithstanding), and the audio is just fine.
P.S. it isn't ONE game, every game is just above cube if not equal to them.
Exaggeration doesn't become you. It is one game.
Saying "Graphics don't matter" is like saying "She has a nice personality".
Which, to someone interested in more than a shallow relationship, is what really matters. I fail to see what's so bad about your metaphor.

Nintendo fanboys have what we Freudboys would call regressive fantasies, or death-wishes. Grow up, live in the present, and enjoy the PS3 like a normal adult.

Tonight I plan on calling a few stores to see when their Wii launch is. I know that Target is Sunday morning, but no idea on the others.

Wish me luck on getting one launch day. I'm hoping it's easy, but with the PS3 launch lines, you never know.

I'll be getting a Wii but a week late. My wife runs the electronic dept. at a dept. store so we'll get a 15% discount too. I'll prolly get Zelda but that's it.

I have a decked out Gamecube, and as far as I was aware those controllers work. Only problem is I gave my Gamecube to my girlfriend, so yeah, I suppose I'll need to pick up a classic controller.

Kinda disappointing, 4 player Mario Kart would be fun.

Oh, please no.

It's like Resident Evil, which was a movie based on a video game, based on a movie -- but without the ne sais quoi aspect of Jill...

Mmmm, Jill. Dogs. Zombies.

The wheel is stupid, you get so sort of feedback and you can move it around in free space which is anything but realistic.

You want real steering you get one of those wheels with force feedback and petals they have been selling for 20 years.
