Thanks for the explanation.

There's more to this!

I have a g4 mini and I've never played a game on a mac before.

I installed Sims 2 (paid £40 for it!) and it runs horrible. I've never seen anything like it. Don't get me wrong, I am a convert to the mac cause, but I sure miss my 3GB pc with 2GB ram for it's gaming power & it's 60fps.

So, I started looking for old games e.g Command & Conquer, Warcraft etc but it appears that these games are for the previous mac OS, not OS X. So I can't run old games and I can't run new ones. And I'm already £40 out of pocket

I went looking for Age Of Empires II for Mac, but there is no longer any demo available for mac so I didn't know if it would work/run ok. Instead of using google with a load of games priced in US$ that I don't know will work, I searched in amule for game OS X. I saw AOE2 I thought it might be demo. It wasn't. It was the full monty. But I didn't understand how it could run without a serial number.

The strange world of Mac gaming...

PS. I have PC versions of most of these games. Should I delete the download or am I covered license wise?

Here's a link to the Command & Conquer Generals Demo for OS X:

MGF: Demo - Strategy & War - Command & Conquer: Generals Demo

Commandos:

MGF: Demo - Strategy & War - Commandos 3 Demo

X2 the Threat:

MGF: Demo - Action - X2: The Threat Demo

These are all OS X games, I think they'll all run on your Mini without too much trouble. Give them a try.

Thanks Madison.

I'm downloading C&C Generals now. I don't hold out much hope for the performance, though, but I'll definitely give it a try,

I'll let you know what my mini makes of it.

Noooo Processor not HDD!

CnC runs! I've only played it a bit, so I don't know what it's like in a huge battle but I'm happy.

Will dl the rest of the demos.

No, you are not covered license wise. You are licensed to use the PC versions. Most of the Mac versions were made by porting houses that take the original PC code and convert or modify it so it runs on the Mac.

Put another way, owning a legitimate copy of Photoshop for the PC does not make it ok for you to run a downloaded copy of Photoshop for the Mac even if you never intend to ever use the PC version again.
