I recently ordered a C2D Blackbook with 2 gig RAM , and will possibly upgrade from the stock 120GB 5400rpm drive to a 100GB 7200..........I was wondering, for those that have done this, what effect does it have on battery life? Is it quite a killer, or is it about the same? I have read that the Hitachi Travelstar drives don't drain as bad as the Seagates, but I don't really know (if you know about this please comment). Also, what effect does it actually have on game play (for the C2D notebooks)?

I plan on gaming. I know that I "should have bought" something for gaming, but I didn't have that extra cash. So, I've opted for the low-res graphics. But I still think it's possible to play current gen games. I will, of course, find all this out this week when I install some of them thanks to Bootcamp. I am planning on trying out Oldblivion patch, and if you have please let me know how it works/if it works. I also want to pick up Medeval 2: Total War, and a few others. I have had a fool of a time trying to find specs or information that was actually relevant to gaming on the Macbook, as all that I read just flames how much the Macbook sucks for gaming. I realize this, but since it never answers my question of "HOW BAD?", I shall do it myself and post what I find here. Feel free to comment about any game you've played on the C2D Macbook, and how/if it worked for you. Thanks!!!

The higher RPM drive will get a little warmer and drain a little bit more battery life. I have a macbook with 512 ram and was able to play the quake 4 demo which I dont think was universal.. So you should be OK to play some of the games but expect to turn down a whole lot of features. The max ram will help some but it wont make a huge difference. I havent attempted to play any of the other games because I havent maxxed out my ram yet.
