I'm hoping to get Diablo II Battle Chest for Christmas, and I was wondering if there was a OSX demo around, since all I can find is classic.

I'm pretty surprised at how many people are still left on Battle.net with Starcraft and Diablo II. I don't know of any demo for that game but I'm almost positive it ran on my Quicksilver G4 Power Mac. It ran well too.

I have the original starcraft and 4000-6000 people still play it online. I also have Warcraft 3 Battle Chest for Mac which runs well on my 1.2ghz ibookg4 512mb 32mb 9200 radeon which I use all the time.

I was just wondering cause I asked for Diablo 2 BC for christmas, and I want a lil bit of Diablo action .

Thanks.

Just to let you know, there is no Universal Binary for Diablo II. I'm not sure if they are even planning to release one. It doesn't really matter though, on the video settings run it in software mode instead of hardware or your screen will look a little weird.

They probably don't need to make a universal update for this. I bet it runs fine under Rosetta because it is so old.

i just tried to play diablo II on my mac pro. tried openGL first since i remember it being really bad and slow. wanted to see how fast it was on the new machine. but when the opening screen came up the video was all glitched out and i couldn't see anything. not even the cursor. so i tried it in software mode and it worked fine. logged in to one of my characters, which was going to expire today lol, and discovered that the server lag is so bad i can't even play. perfect latency in WoW and surfing the web, but battlenet must be downgraded to a single machine or something because there was no way i was about to go teleport around in hell difficulty, playing hardcore mode, with that kind of lag. hope it's not like that all the time.

I am having the same problem as mr. burns (poster above me). I have just installed diablo2 LoD on my macbook pro. I am on software mode or whatnot, and I can play decently in singleplayer games. however, multiplayer ladder games cause massive latency issues. my fps is 133 and my macbook runs other games flawlessly as well. help?

edit:
If someone has a remedy to this problem could you please email me at godayy87@hotmail.com

I got the game. So anyways I have it running on OpenGl on my iBook. It runs fine in sp but on online..well..lets just say alot of monsters on screen drags the fps down online. It lags goes down to the single digits then suddenly speeds up to catch up in large games.

I am playing Diablo II in software mode as well on my C2D. The problem I am having is it is forcing me into 256 colors, which isn't very nice. Is this what everyone else is experiencing, or am I missing something?

He probably needs neither a universal binary nor Rosetta, since he is playing it with an iBook.

when it's "glitchy" OpenGL video on an intel mac, press command-m
this puts it in window mode, still in OpenGL, and it draws the screen properly.

I have the same problem as the last few posters.
insert CD, click on game to start. pass the credits, then everything stops when you get to click characters.
i have had the Cds for several yrs now. well since Diablo 2 and LOD came out back in Classic OS days.

i have tryed patches, and a few other things. i only want to play single player, not battle.net.

is there an idiots guide (step by step) on how to get everything back on track for the new Intel iMacs?

ps specs are (if they help)
Intel iMac
1GB memory
OSX.4.8 i think

thanx.

it actually switches to software in window mode. type /fps and it'll show what kind of video mode it's in.
