I used Migration Assistant to go from PB G4 to MBP. Is my WoW now Universal? How do I tell? How do I upgrade/change it so it takes advantage of the Universal info?

Thanks!

No, Migration Assistant isn't going to update every program it copies over.

Get Info on the WoW app to see if it's Universal or PowerPC.

Glad you like it.

We have shipped the universal application of WoW since Feb 2006; the way the Mac support is set up, all users get the same version of the app, so all players on MacOS have the universal version now.

just noticed this:
Improved iTunes key-binding feature for smoothness and track name display.
WoW and iTunes integration? never noticed that..!

Thanks! Great product...with almost all settings turned up, I'm still getting great frame rates and the animation/visuals are stunning

Thanks again

What are your settings?

I have a friend running WoW on his Core Duo Macbook 2.16 with 2 gigs of RAM and he's having issues.

Settings:

Framerate:

Is this the framerate that is to be expected with these settings? I don't think it should be this low.

Maybe if rbarris could chime in that would be great.

I'd start by turning anisotropic filtering down to minimum, and disable full screen glow, and see where that gets you.

Laptop GPU's just don't have the memory bandwidth that desktop GPU's do, and those features use a lot of GPU memory bandwidth.

WoW is a really hard game to benchmark because the performance can very greatly even in the exact same spot depending on a number of factors. So to claim you'll get X framerates isn't always going to be helpful. Also, make sure your friend is only using 1x multisampling. And try messing around with the screen resolution for more optimum performance unless he absolutely must play at the native resolution. On my MBP I usually run at the lower resolutions. Turn down the Spell Detail Level some too. I've noticed a lot of particle effects that can drop performance greatly in the expansion pack. Also try adjusting the terrain distance.

The biggest performance killer for me is eyecandy add-ons, like perl classic or xperl unit frames. When you compare performance, compare it with your addon off. on the flipside, that is not a real world test since, I know very few player who play the endgame with no addons at all.

While your right about anisotropic Anit Alising is far worse. Turn both off and crank up the detail, followed by the Resolution. If your running those high (Somewhere around 1024 X 768) and full details then thing about Ani and Anti.
