If I buy a Wii in the U.S, I heard I have to connect to the American server as opposed to the European one in order to download games..etc. Will this slow down the connection speed a lot? (I'm in London) Is it worth buying one in the U.S just to get cheaper and earlier-released games?

I say no, because Wii games are region encoded. I would double check the story on the VC games, though.

Unless you like paying to import every (disc) game. Then again, the dollar is pretty weak against the pound...
