When you say "I put all the files into one folder" you don't mean that it looks like Interface/AddOns/MyFolder/all the files do you?

You should have:
Interface/AddOns/TitanPanel
Interface/AddOns/PoisonPouch
Interface/AddOns/whatever else

with the individual files for each addon in it's own folder in the AddOns folder. And yes, you probably do need to unzip them as most addons come in an archive file of some type. Try The Unarchiver if you need to download one.

After you've entered your username and password at the bottom left of the character screen is an AddOns button. Click that and it will show all the addons you have installed. If they're not showing up you've put them in the wrong place. You'll likely have to exit and restart the program incidentally, if you have it running while putting in addons.

Oh, also if this is your first time using addons (which I'm guessing it must be) you shouldn't have to overwrite anything as the only thing in your AddOns directory should be the Blizzard defaults. The only exception would be if you're trying to install a whole pack that comes included with the Blizzard defaults (damn lazy addon pack creators)

also, by 'extract all file into one folder, does that mean take each seperate document?
many of them are duplicate names, so just rename?

You shouldn't have to do any renaming, unless you're just overwriting the files you've already put in there. Starting from the default set there shouldn't have been any need to rename/overwrite anything. It only becomes an issue when you're updating new versions of the addons (and thus replacing the originals with updated versions) Since I'm not entirely clear on what you've done up to this point, here are the clean install instructions that I included with my AddOn pack:

1. Exit the game

2. Locate your ..\Interface\AddOns folder. By default it is located at Applications\World of Warcraft\ on a Mac,
or cProgram Files\World of Warcraft\ under Windows

3. Make sure the ..\AddOns folder doesn't contain anything but the 13 default Blizzard AddOns folders (all starting with
Blizzard_) They are: Blizzard_AuctionUI, Blizzard_BattlefieldMinimap, Blizzard_BindingUI, Blizzard_CombatText
Blizzard_CraftUI, Blizzard_GMSurveyUI, Blizzard_InspectUI, Blizzard_ItemSocketingUI, Blizzard_MacroUI
Blizzard_RaidUI, Blizzard_TalentUI, Blizzard_TradeSkillUI, Blizzard_TrainerUI. This should be the case
if you've never used AddOns before (I should point out that this is from before Burning Crusade came out, so that might have added a folder of two, I don't know, but regardless it'll start with Blizzard_)

4-7 only really apply if you've previously used addons and want to save some of the character data, so they shouldn't be important here.

8. Locate the downloaded (and unzipped) add on folders on your desktop and drag them into your ..\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns folder

Hopefully that makes sense. Each add on is a folder full of files, when you download them you'll end up with a folder that has the same name as the add on, and it's this folder that you have to drag into your ..\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns folder. Here's an image of what my AddOns folder looked like:

Yours should be similar, containing only a folder for each add on you've installed. Make sure you're not renaming any of those folders either. Each add on folder will contain a variety of .xml, .lua and other files, make sure you don't change or rename anything inside these folders, otherwise the add ons won't work.

You don't have to rename anything.

Unzip the folder, I presume Titan panel still comes with other "modules" for it and so it will probably unzip to one folder containing "Titan", "TitanXP", "TitanQuests" etc. Move these folders to your Interface/AddOns folder.

yeah, i believe that that's the problem...
in titan panel, there are multiple folders within it.
such as titan loot type, titanbag, etc.
each of these has duplicates like localization.DE.lua and Localizaition.FR.lue..etc
so do each of these count as a seperate addon?
oh uhm...I'm using 'the unarchiver' it says teh contents of this folder cannot be extracted with this program.
oh, one weird thing...
world of warcraft is in my name folder.
e.g. johnsmith...
not apps. This is b/c i am not administrator...
does this matter?

Ya, TitanPanel, FuBar and a couple of others have a lot of "plugins" that are each basically a separate add on, and therefor each need their own set of files, so each has to be in it's own separate folder (that it came in) in your AddOns directory. Keep all the folders in the order they came in, never try to combine them together, just put each one separately into your AddOns folder.

As far as the unarchiver goes, you only need to do it if your download is a .zip, .dmg, .rar or some other archive type. If it's just a standard folder then just drag it to the AddOns directory and you're done.

It doesn't matter where WoW is stored, that won't affect anything. The AddOns folder will always be in WorldofWarcraft/Interface/AddOns and that's all you have to worry about.

so if I end uo not liking a mod I install I can always go back and delete all of the folders except these 3. Make sure the ..\AddOns folder doesn't contain anything but the 13 default Blizzard AddOns folders (all starting with
Blizzard_) They are: Blizzard_AuctionUI, Blizzard_BattlefieldMinimap, Blizzard_BindingUI, Blizzard_CombatText
Blizzard_CraftUI, Blizzard_GMSurveyUI, Blizzard_InspectUI, Blizzard_ItemSocketingUI, Blizzard_MacroUI

and I'll be cool?

To remove an add on you just delete it's folder from the AddOns directory. The next time you log in it'll be gone.

Don't touch anything with those extensions.

The only thing you need Unarchiver for is if your download comes as a .zip file. Then you unarchive the .zip file and end up with the add on folder.

1. Type ui.worldofwar.net into your browser search bar
2. In the search box on the site type "auctioneer"
3. Click "Auctioneer v4.0.0" on the results page
4. Scroll down to the "<Download Mod>" button
5. Click it
6. Select "Save to disk" from the alert message and hit "OK"
7. Locate the "auctioneerpack-4.0.0.zip" file on your desktop. Note that it is a .ZIP file and so you need to use Unarchiver to unarchive it.
8. Right click the file > Open With > The Unarchiver
9. You now have a folder called "auctioneerpack-4.0.0" on your desktop
10. If you open the folder you'll see 8 folders inside. These are each add ons that work with Auctioneer
11. Open your World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns directory
12. Drag each of these folders into your AddOns directory (!Swatter, Auctioneer, BeanCounter, BtmScan, Enchantrix, EnhTooltip, Informant, Stubby)
13. That's it
14. Don't do anything else
15. Repeat as necessary for each add on you want to use

If you open up a folder and find any of the following file types inside, .txt, .lua, .xml, .toc HIT THE BACK BUTTON in your finder toolbar immediately. The folder is the add on. Don't touch anything inside. Just drag the whole folder to your AddOns directory.

To delete add ons:
1. Quit the game
2. Open your World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns folder
3. Locate the folder with the same name as the add on you want to get rid of
4. Drag that folder to the trash
5. Restart the game

If you've verified that you have them in the Warcraft/Interface/Addons folder... And that they are not in a sub-folder in Addons. All folders need to be in same Addons folder..no "nested" folders.

They might be outdated. If so, click Add'on's in lower left of WoW login window and make sure that you check "Load outdated addons".

Otherwise, you may need to provide more information to assist in diagnosing problem.

Luck.

It seems relevant and useful and I don't see anything to indicate that Starsixer benefits from linking to it, so I'm thinking it's OK.

i think though that the wowace updater only updates addons that are in the ace library, wow matrix has a larger library of addons to pull from. if im wrong on this then sorry, its just what i understood.

Ah. I thought at first it was one of the gold-selling things. Bit I still like manually updating. OCD ftw and all that.
