I just got a macbook and also picked up diablo 2 again, but when I try to install it it says "you cannot open the application because it is not supported on this system". I heard something about going into software rendering mode but I have no idea how to do so, can anyone tell me whats up?

You're probably trying to install using the OS 9 installer on the disk. Go to the Blizzard website and download the OS X installer.
When you first start the game you can choose the video options including software rendering.
