If it's just Sims 2, no expansions, you will get substantially performance from XP versus OS X. I couldn't tell you the exact reason for this, but I know that it's true on my MacBook CD. Based on your computer, YMMV.

This is one of my questions, too.

I have a 2.33 MBP, 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, 256mb SDRAM.

I've been running boot camp to run my Sims 2, but now that more of the expansion packs are being released in a timely manner, including the "Stuff" packs, I'd like to get Windows off of my machine, since the only purpose of it is to play Sims 2.

I'm sure there is some speed difference, because I've heard this before, but with the files now being written in Universal, is that difference even noticeable? Especially with a larger amount of ram and graphics card then necessary to play the game normally on a Windows machine?

Curious to know if I need to start saving for the Mac versions.

Actually, Aspyr released a free patch for Sims 2 that brings it Universal-ness. The problem is with multithreaded-OpenGL, which is only available in the latest expansions (beginning with Pets, I believe). lurkygirl: your machine has more than enough oomph to run Sims 2 at full settings in OS X, no problem. abeato6: you should be fine either way (especially if you get an expansion, specifically Pets or Seasons).
