The PSP redesign won't provide people with what they were begging for: the second analog stick. However, 33% lighter, better battery life, a less complicated UMD drive, and high-quality video output sounds pretty nice, IMHO.

I've been bored with the DS for a little while now. I started looking at the PSP library, and couldn't help but notice...I want to play a lot of these games. The fact that I could take PS2-quality games on the road is feeling more appealing too.

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters
Daxter (played before...great fun)
Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee
FIFA (that actually looks and plays like FIFA)
Madden (see FIFA)
Killzone: Liberation
MLB '07 (love this series, can't play it on 360)
Sid Meier's Pirates
SSX On Tour
Crush
Virtual Tennis World Tour

as well as these coming up...

Final Fantasy Tactics
Castlevania (would only play for SotN)
Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron
Silent Hill: Origins

The PSP isn't looking like as bad of a buy as it used to be.

Or is this just my ADD kicking into overdrive again?

I'm in the same boat Jawbone, I want one. I insisted on buying a gameboy micro a year ago because "graphics don't matter in portable games", but there's too many games I REALLY want to play on PSP...

For me it's:
Tekken: DR
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Wipeout: Pure (oldie but a goodie)
Ratchet and Clank
Daxter

Despite the fact that the new PSP is pretty much just a thin one with a video out, I like it a lot (esp. the new silver model). The daxter pack looks great.

After thinking about it for two days, I'm still not sold.

What I decided to do was go out and buy some new games for the DS, to see if I could inject some new life into my little portable friend.

I picked up Trauma Center and Mario Kart DS. I had MK when it first came out, but I was in one of my buying/selling/trading sprees, and only played it about 5 or 6 times before it was gone. Planet Puzzle League is still interesting, but it was all I had been playing for a few weeks.

Jawbone's ADD videogame saga continues...

I heartily recommend the PSP, although with the redesign coming I would wait for that. I don't think it'll be a huge difference, but it's certainly a bit nicer than the current model.

There are some duds on the PSP, just like with the DS, but there are WAY more than enough truly exceptional games to warrant owning the system, especially if you consider yourself a gamer.

I think Jawbone is getting an itchy trigger finger for buying any new game system, and the PSP is the cheapest one he can think of.

SPOT ON!

I shamefully admit it.

Successful marketing makes you discontent with what you have. I've been known to be an absolute sucker.

I'm a gamer. I'm just a poor one.
