The great part is, they rendered everything as 3D models, then they took snapshots of the models in various positions and turned them into sprite frames.

Marathon in HD...nice.
I have quite a few hours in that game...I bought Infinity and rigged up my iMac to my old 7100 with a Nubus ethernet card so that my sister and I could play network games...and one point some friends and I rigged up 5 old Macs and had our own LAN party with Marathon. Good times.

I would have preferred the original first. Why start with M2? The original M with the creepy music. oooooh.

I saw an interview about that, actually. If I recall, they did Marathon 2 first because they thought it had the best plot. Marathon 1's plot is fairly rudimentary and Marathon Infinity's plot attempts to made your head explode, so they thought Marathon 2 was the one people would find most accessible.

Apparently there is something about this game that makes almost everyone who plays it motion sick. Something about the 60fps frame-rate or head bob or something.
Even I felt dizzy and slightly nauseated after playing the demo, and I never get motion sick from games.

Ok, wow.
I played for around an hour and all of a sudden - BAM! Motion sickness. I had to go downstairs to the coolest part of the house and turn on the AC. I don't know what it was, but it hit me like a brick.
Other than that, it looks amazing. Brought back a LOT of memories. I still have the map pack I made. I never did finish it.

I briefly played the demo, I am going to have to sit down and play more of it because I never played them back in the day. Up until recently I have been a hardcore PC person.

Seriously, WTF?
I downloaded it partly because I've never played and partly to test out this motion sickness phenomenon.
I'm only halfway through the second level and my stomach is tightening and my eyes hurt as if the textures were stinging them.
Was the computer version the same or is this an XBox thing?

I never got ill playing the Mac version. I don't know WHAT is causing it. I mean, I'm fine and then I'm not. I don't get it. And I've played FPS games for what...12-14 years on PCs/Macs/consoles and never had a problem. /shrug.

I played it a ton when I was little, and never got sick. Weird. I want to try it, just to experience the sickness. It'd be awesome to throw up over marathon!

It's the lack of camera movement and the overall fluidity of the game, it's called Simulation Sickness or something. I bet playing it on a 32 inch TV doesn't help.
I really wanted to play this game, but I just fired it up and within minutes my head was starting to hurt.
This is the only game I have ever gotten dizzy while playing (besides Halo 2 after a dozen beers )
