This is probably a simple thing I'm overlooking, but is there any way to tell that you have the most up to date firmware and updates for your 360? I'm under the impression that as soon as you go onto XBL it has you update immediately. I've gone on and had to do some updates but I'd like to see a firmware number or "Check For Updates" tab or something to just confirm that I have everything up to date.

Not sure, probably in the "about" tab.
If you're on XBox Live - it'll tell you to update your console.

Yep you're right sdilley, they're mandatory and will always update if ur online. No need to worry.
