Anyone purchased this game yet? Curious to see how well it runs.

My buddy got it last weekend... and said it was a fun game. The bad thing was still the load times and the lack of new developments in the game from the previous version.

I imported it from the States when it was released over there (cheaper than the anticipated UK price - and that includes delivery).

I play it and BF2 on my desktop Windows PC so I thought I'd have it on my MBP too!

Not impressed! Not with the gameplay (agree with Smillz that BF2 is better) but with the performance. My MBP plays Doom3 and Quake 4 well - it's the latest with a 2.4 Core 2 Duo CPU, 256Mb NVidia card and 4Mb RAM - but the frame rate is awful on BF2142.
Only 33 three (and reducing) pay days to go before retirement!

I'm not impressed with it on the Mac at all. If this is what Cider does, then I'm really not interested in paying for any other games using it. I've been meaning to borrow a coworkers copy of BF2142 for Windows to compare to this under Boot Camp to see if it might be just a high resource game in general.

Beyond the performance issues, I've also had stability issues. I have the dev tools installed and set to give me a dialog when anything crashes (normally OS X only tells you about some crashes), and when initially running the game, one piece of cider crashes. Upon exit, another one dies, and unless I manually go into activity monitor and kill off two other cider processes, they keep running and prevent the game from running again properly.

If Cider had been something free that I downloaded and used a Windows copy of the game with, this might have been slightly excusable. As it is, I'm stuck with a Mac only disc that won't run properly, and runs poorly. While I didn't have much interest in BF2142, it was the one I was most interested in out of the released EA games to see Cider.

Put Battlefield 2142 on new Alum. Imac 24" 2.8ghz 2gb ram. Seems to run just fine. Played single player for about 3 hours, no crashes,, didn't notice any lag. Have not played multiplayer let.
