Just to post-whore some more (that rymed) I played with the two brigadiers from last night and my buddy Gamblor.
We were cocky enough to play Ranked TS...needless to say I'm a 44 now....
Just as a rule of thumb...If you're playing your 25th game of the night (after stopping due to exhaustion) it's not a good idea to try to up your highest rank.

Just one of the games Me and Dakar were teammates for (looking back over them we lost almost every outing as a team). It was KBs Team SWAT variant on Last Resort. This was to be my last NN game...I couldn't take the heartbreak anymore.
I remember cursing the heavens for such a close game.

Hah! I'm saving that one FFA game forever! That will be the last time I ever come out ahead against you I'm certain. And I really can't brag since it was by 1 kill, and your performance was better overall. Even my last kill was a draw. I beat someone down (can't remember who it was right now) and that person beat me down at the same time. But I'll take it!

I love the new melee system. I beat a flag guy down last night at the same time he smacked me with the flag. Usually this would've ended in death for Fatty but instead we both died.
Well done Bungie.

First i wanted to tell everyone that i talked to my good friend apsolid121 today and he said to tell everyone that he had an awesome time, also thanks for all the great stat lists sek, i can't get enough follow up gaming. I got a chance to watch a few videos today and i got a few screens.
First we have Dakar driving the ****en Wraith, after being destroyed too many times i went for the missile pod and took the man cannon and did the business.
Next is two pictures that look ALL TO SIMILAR, although i hate to admit it these are only 10 seconds OR LESS apart from one and other, as maroma lies atop the sniper tower on dakars sandtrap map i decide to run up and attempt to take him out only to be destroyed not once, but twice in mere seconds.
...on a last note (not to toot my own horn) but i think sek has it nailed that i seem to start out slow but finish strong....
now only if i could learn to snipe like him

Let me start off by reiterating how awesome Thursday's MacNN Halo 3 meet was.
Now let me say how time consuming taking pictures and watching film for 12 players is. Nevertheless I sat down down with a pen and paper ready to jot down some notes and take as many pictures as there were players (technically there was an extra player, Chuckit, but you better shut up right now). Which brings me to...
Big Team Slayer on Sandtrap!
Oh boy what a game this was. Right from the get go lasers and rockets dominated this map, on both teams. Those who were the first to hop in vehicles met with quick and horrific ends. The following pics took place less than 1 minute into the match.
Oblivious Gunner

::maroma and Euthyphro13 just seconds before an early rocket-aided double-kill courtesy of that 'other' Brigadier, apsolid.
Fatty starts it off right

Yours truly annihilates Dakar (driver) and apsolid (gunner) with his first shot.
After 3 minutes of play apsolid and Dakar had quite a bit to gripe about. The reason, I kept hitting them with lasers! Muhuhhahah! By 3:04 I hit Dakar the 4th time with the laser and just before that apsolid tasted his third beam of concentrated photons.
Not one to be upstaged

Dakar lasers Chris out of the sky. I relieved him of his life via laser seconds afterwards.
By now the map had evened out a little and everyone started hopping into whatever vehicle they could find. I found myself getting kill #14 in the Hornet, which srd5010 promptly lasered right the hell down. apsolid held things down with the Rocket Launcher which, after watching him play all game, he is very proficient with.
Crosbie started out a little slow but found his groove later on in the game and ended up in third place. He also had one or two brushes with death without really knowing what the hell was going on.
Prayin' to the right God

God knows I would've cursed the heavens if I were theKurrigan, who is the oh-so-close marksman. Stogie, obliviously, just wants to pick up a weapon.
Spartan Stelios was mostly cannon fodder all game but registered his first (and only) kill via a very well-timed and executed splatter.
1 Kill, 1 Award.....good enough

That's Kevin Bogues getting the business end of a speeding Ghost.
That pic was more or less the halfway point of the game which, coincidentally, was also the 30 kills mark for Team Awesome, I mean Gold. By now Team Purple People Eater had only mustered 17 kills, the lion's share going to that other Brigadier. Must've been due to the fact no one was safe from my laser. Also, Chuckit joined the carnage around now for Team Purple. Luckily his moderation powers were useless on the Xbox Live tubes!
srd was the sleeper for Team Purple and made use of the Rocket Launcher, Laser, and anything else he could get his mitts on (including sniper). He ended my (1 kill short) running riot and was the only other person besides apsolid to give me any trouble (no offense to the rest of you jerks.
Close-call

srd5010 threads a field goal from the downed Phantom while chrisgilqin and Spartan Stelios obliviously look in all directions. In fact, he would fire three rockects directly near them before anyone caught on. Actually, from Crosbie to this I guess my team needs to turn up their sound a little before somebody gets hurt
Kill the head and the body dies

If I know someone is a threat I go after them before anyone else. Forgoing an easy close snipe I go for my second threat, srd5010, with deadly precision.
Dakar and medium9 started whipping around in the Gauss Hog causing all sorts of mischief. Laser-less, I hid away, hoping another teammate would take them down.
Wraith > Gauss Hog

First of all...Dakar, why did you leave poor medium here a sitting duck just waiting for Euthyphro13 to fricassee? I know you probably really wanted that Hornet but you both ended up dying, for shame.
You got SERVED!

Dakar tries to impress a stone-cold Fatty with his dance moves.
Chuckit was now the pride of the poison skies in his slightly damaged Hornet. Damaged from that Wraith two pictures ago, in fact.
Moderator of my heart

Charlie Blue unleashes fury from above. Fury is felt down below by Stelios.
Laser + Hornet = Might want to wash that Ghost seat off

Remember that scene from Braveheart where they moon the English troops? That might've help out my teammate Stogie here. Chuckit tears him a few holes right before Mr. Bogues gives him a Laser-enema.
I figured Chuckit was new to the party so I made sure to send him a gift almost everyone on the opposing team already got, a nice laser straight to the Hornet for Kill number 20 (47 for the team).
Fatty dislikes having another Brigadier to worry about

apsolid kills a near-invisible Fatty post Chuckit laser and gets the double kill on ::maroma:: right afterwards.
The game ends with ::maroma:: killing Team Purple People Eater's #1 killer, apsolid, with a nice Banshee attack.
Fatty Laser toll for Team Purple: DakarZero x4, apsolid x3, srd5010 x2, medium9 x1, and Charlie Blue x1.
The only person to avoid any laser deaths was Kevin Bogues.
Well, that took forever, and even then I struggled on the actual write-up. Very hard to come up with a game summary of 12 people murdering eachother in dozens of ways. I could have taken 50 pics from this game and it was a real joy seeing other's tactics for once.
next up: Nades N' Spades

Thank you, thank you. I couldn't find anyone to run the hog (or it was lying in flames somewhere), so I decided to go solo and get surprisingly good results.

Uninteresting note, but you fell to one of my map changes since last time. The tower only had a brute shot before. Also, the snipe tower is the much taller one in the distance. I suppose this is the mini or turret tower. It's a pain coming up with nicknames for locations.
I might note that only a shitty spawn would put you near the guy who just killed you. Christ.

Nerd.
That's exactly what I did for the Pit write-up.

I was about ready to throw my controller after death 4. I mean, I'm not egotistic enough to think you're seeking my ass out, which leaves me with the conclusion that I am one unlucky player.
BTW, I might add that this is the conundrum I face on these BTB matches. I feel I'm best served driving, however it appears that unless I worry about it personally, you wreak havoc on my team. Dick.
(I'm putting you on my team next time, despite our track record)

lulz. That Gauss is bitch to use under medium lag, however.

Honestly? Because I know I'd do more (potential) damage in a Hornet than him in the hog. Second, I had no idea the Wraith was there. Third, we would've been blown to hell either way.
Edit: sek, could you put the entire match up on your fileshare? I neglected to save both, and I think the second one was a batter watch.

In other news, I finally earned my 30 this weekend. Only took 6 wins in a row from 28 (thankfully), but most fun is I earned it a manner which I think was only fitting given some of the poor situations I kept finding myself in on the way there.

I was not trying to single out anybody at this point but you kept coming on screen. In fact, I think your first three deaths (maybe 4) were all lasers by me.

You just don't want to be barbecued 4 times again

I had a decent amount of difficulty taking that Hog/Wraith pic due to the horrendous lag of the Wraiths main weapon (even the Gauss Cannon was lagging behind the actual hog). I settled on the easy death pic but there was a cool chase shot that just wasn't working out for me.

10-4 good buddy.
Edit: I also saved SWAT on the Pit, and LTK on Narrows. (Of course Nades n' Spades and Slayer on Valhalla too)

Bingo. It's also why Kurrigan was on my team.
It should be noted that I'm starting to see some of the advantages of the Mini-Tower spawn. The vehicles may be further away, but the Snipe and Laser seem to earn useful status earlier.

Part of it the nature of the weapon. When you're moving at the speed of a hog, the shot will appear a second later where you were at rather then were you are.

I don't need them at the moment. The 100 custom content limit is killing me though. Time to do another round of clip and save kills.

Yeah, we need to talk about that. Not today, I'm almost gone.
I did have an idea though. I'd love to do some Social Slayer one night with some of us (a party of You, me, ::maroma::, and perhaps stogie?). It'd be fun.

The former is true, not so much on the latter.
Second thought: I think we need to do a rematch of that legendary Pit match from Meeting Two. If we sub in Chris for Kurrigan, I think It'd be an awesome time.

For Andy8
I believe we were discussing lag in the pre-game lobby. I definitely noticed it from you as there were several times I creamed Spartan Stelios with some weapon which you didn't even seem to notice. I also think you were the cause of the famously bad BTB lag on Sandtrap Gauss (which caused one of my friends to quit in game and one post game).
That noted, I believe we were discussing the fact that you couldn't get local games by selecting a language preference. In case you didn't know, the Auto-update addressed the issue for international players by tweaking the "Prefer Good Connection" option to look for more local players. So you should give this a try, and let us know if you notice a difference.

Grats on 30 Dakar!!
On that note (for me), I seem to have possibly hit my skill level cap. I am not able to win any LW matches anymore, nor can I get past 30. I'm back down to 28 now. So you'll be passing me pretty quickly I'm sure.
Also, I'm up (down?) for that social slayer stuff and/or rematch as well. Just give me a time and date and I'll do my darndest to be there.

Not at all, I've hit the wall as well. Surprisingly hard, I might add, considering how fast I went from 26 - 30.

I think we gravitate towards each other, while cutting a swath through anyone who stands in our way. We know who out best competition is, though that's not strictly true anymore.

Since you need a minimum of 8 people, probably not til the next meet-up.
-----
::maroma::, I think you were doing campaign achievements last night? If so, I'd love to join in on that if you don't mind. I imagine with 3 of us we can crank it to legendary with a few skulls on, at least on some of the early levels.
-----
Speaking of which, if Peter wants to chip in a preferred GMT time and weekend day, I think that's the only way we can meet him. No earlier than at least another week and half from now, though.

Just a little advice with my experience dakar.
I think the meta score are the most annoying achievements by far to get, i tried to get them with a friend on legendary only to fail numerous times, since you each need that score to get the achievement its extremely difficult. I found the best way for me to get them was to play on normal with 3/4 skulls on and try to beat the level as fast as possible (for the extra multiplier) and actually i never had to attempt any level a second time. I don't know what other achievements you have left but if you need any help i'd be glad to help you too along with anyone else looking to top out that 1000 gamerscore.

My biggest problem is I easily get stuck on certain spots (The final section with before the Goldie on Sierra 117, the room with all the Brute's on Crow's Nest, etc.). I'd rather go through quickly twice, having one person lend help where needed, then try and go through solo with it taking forever and dying a lot. Plus you can turn on the skull about resetting when dying.

Yeah I was doing campaign achievements last night with decog. He and I got through the first 2 levels each getting over 15,000 pts on Heroic. It was pretty easy, though he's much better than me at campaign mode so he would rack up tons of points, then have to hang back and hide while I caught up to him. It seemed to work well though. I'm down to play that whenever I'm on. I just want those achievements out of the way.
And by the way, the Grunt Birthday Party skull has to be the best mod ever. I need to take a screenshot of a grunt's head exploding into confetti. So funny.
I still need most of the meta point achievements, as well as the Marathon Man achievement in campaign. Last night I finally got my Killing Frenzy achievement in a Free for All match. Yay!

Speaking of achievements, I need to get the last skull on Cortana, which really sucks...
...and I was trying to get a Mowdown last night (No Pic of the Day today, because Halo wouldn't let me save a pic I took of me hitting two people in the middle of fight at the same time, and failing to kill either one....) and some dude was following me around near the end and bagging the ground. Bizarre.
Oh and I couldn't derank last night worth a damn. Steppin' Razor is such a tease achievement. Must be nice if you have host.
Thirdly, I had a Crazy King game on Pit where 3 people dropped -- and absolutely no one made a move for the hill for its first two moves. I did screw a guy from getting his Killing Frenzy at 9, though, which is about the only good moment I had last night. (Not really, it was a double-beatdown)

Oops, you're right. I got something like 14,800 points and we decided to move on since he already had he achievement. It was a moral victory though.

Nice! Just sign here... and here.. and there.
I probably won't be able to play any tonight. I got a buddy coming over who isn't a gamer really, but wants to play some Half Life so I'll be doing that tonight. Although if I find some time I will probably try to sneak in some Halo action in one form or another.

I think "steppin' razor" and the "two for one" acheviments took me the longest, I probably played 20 games on snowbound before i caught two people in a battle in the basement and finally charged up and walked in and took them both.
Advice for anyone doing "marathon man" - i went through and opened all terminals...no achievement... only to find out later that you must read all screens of the terminal till it goes red and freaks out

Whenever. Like I said, I don't wonder if I need a vacation from the game (Not that I'm likely to stay away).

From what I hear Crazy King is the best bet.
Right now, I'm playing Lone Wolves for the achievements, so I've basically been quitting out of any game I don't feel like playing. At my number of games played, the loss of XP couldn't possibly hurt (nor the loss of LW skill rank).

Yeah, that one was easy. Got it long ago.

Yep, those are the 2 that I still need. I think I also need the "Better Luck Next Time Buddy" one. But that one should be easy if I try for it. I was so close to getting the "Two for One" achievement last night but one of my targets beat down the other target just before my lazer went off. But at least in that game I got the "Killing Frenzy" achievement, so not all was lost.
I agree that Crazy King is probably the best way to get at least the "Steppin' Razor" achievement. Especially on Construct or The Pit. I would say Snowbound is the best to get the "Two for One".

That probably explains why I didn't get that one yet. I thought for certain I got all terminals a while back, but never got the achievement. Damn my lack of patience!

Better Luck Next Time Buddy- is simple. If you read the description (Board the same vehicle within 10 seconds after being boarded in any free for all playlist) it can be done in any free for all game so...bring a friend and get it done.
Two For One - I found the best way is to stand outside of the basement area of Snowbound looking in where the shotgun is and wait for two guys to get into a battle, start charging the laser outside (because the beam will not go through the transparent door) and right before it goes off step through the door and into the room and kill two completely unsuspecting players.

Thanks
