Speaking of Fusion Cores, I had a ball on Sandtrap this weekend, trying to come up with creative ways of dying. Originally I was trying to create my own rocket ship to the moon by placing a crate on a bed of Batteries, but unfortunately the damn thing weighs too much. I did take a Weapons Pallet to the face in extreme fashion, though, and slid a good quarter of the map horizontally.

I'm very interested in trying to do a few panoramic Halo 3 screenshots like the ones shown here.

Unfortunately I don't have CS3 so I'll have to try another program.

Hey, I didn't say EXACTLY like those, jerk.

Also, the (old) new maps will be available before the (new) new maps come out.

Either way I need new maps I can play with everyone. Standoff looks awesome.

(They overkilled the blur effect, though)

I think we all know I do.

I imagine Standoff will be the first map I try to enhance.

but...but....it's so pretty!

Great map for Multi CTF and Multi Bomb. I can for-see game or two at an NN Halo 3 meet taking place there.

That made me think of Super Troopers. "Enhance. Enhance. Enhance."

But yeah, with a few minor tweaks Standoff can be a great BTB map. It just needs the DakarZero touch. Not to be confused with the inappropriate uncle touch.

*blush*

Edit: After Standoff is released to everyone we will be holding every match on that or Epitaph, just to frustrate sek with the lack of Sniper Rifles.

I'm surprised we haven't pulled any lurkers into this thread. At any given time there are 10+ guests viewing the gaming forum.

Must be your Major Grade 3 that scares them away

I should really retrieve my second account, Fatty O Besity.

I am, however, totally bummed that I won't get to play as a 1 anymore since you made it to 30 all by yourself.

If I thought you could drag me to Commander, I'd do it. I'd be content to finish my career as a Strike Commander. First, however, I need to get myself playing like a Staff Captain again.

I could do it. Commanders are good players, like KB, but if you perform at Major-quality I can easily help you win.

I'll tell you when I feel like I've returned to that level.

On Topic: I've been considering creating a type of tournament. Something that wouldn't require all of us to be on at the same time. Would anyone be interested in this? I realize we have quite a rank spread.

What I'm looking at so far is a Three-for-All game type with custom scoring. Perhaps a few Gametype variants as well. I'll probably give out points on how people place.

I also think we'll look into the possibility of removing certain vehicles or weapons, depending how people feel.

The biggest pain I see is peeps will have to download a few maps and my gametype to do these without me.

Edit: Ideally, if we can get 4- 6 people to commit to this I think it'd be good enough to go through a first run to iron out the kinks.

I'm going to close this tournament at 4 people, to make it manageable for the dry run (Sorry anyone who didn't get to see the offer).

Alright, what I've come up with so far is six gametypes:
Crazy King
Survivor
License to Kill
Nades & Spades
Rockets
Skill Kill (Custom Scoring TBA)

These aren't set in stone. If you think a gametype should be eliminated or substituted, speak up.

I'll be limiting play to six levels, with each Gametype having two levels it may be played on (Confused yet? I am).

Scoring will be as follows:
1st 5 pts
2nd 3 pts
3rd 1 pt

Any ties will result in the points up for grabs being added together and divided evenly among the players tied.

With 4 players, we will be split up into four trios:
sek, kb, maroma
sek, kb, Dakar
sek, maroma, Dakar
kn, maroma, Dakar

Now the hard part is I'm trying to figure out how many matches each trio should do. Six seems unwieldy. If it's three (seems most logical) I need to figure out how to make sure each person plays each gametype/level.

(Anyone know of tournament type software to help with this?)

Hmmm, I think I have come up with an idea. It won't make play even, but it will make it subjectively fair.

sek, kb, maroma, I need you to each pick a gametype you prefer, and one you'd like to avoid (the latter may not be honored)

Do the same from the following levels:
Construct
Epitaph
Guardian
Isolation
Snowbound
The Pit

I think I may be able to generate brackets using this info.

I enjoy Crazy King a lot.

Not a big fan of Rockets.

Not sure what Skill Kill is though.

Let's just say Skill Kill won't be optional this time round.

Make you picks from the levels, too.

Edit: In case you don't know, Survivor is everyone gets 5 lives, last man standing wins.

Epitaph will be a variant with the same weapons, but new structures on the bottom to create cover.

Oh right, levels... pick one we like and one we don't?

Totally dig Guardian

Not in love with Isolation (but really, who is?) Although its not a bad map for Crazy King... but still my least favorite out of the bunch.

You know what, let's ditch Rockets for Fiesta, a completely random gametype, to keep things interesting and diverse. (Fiesta is where you spawn with two completely random weapons). Rockets felt too much like LTK lite, anyway.

I love LTK, but I'm torn since I'm nasty at sticky nades. I'll say I prefer Nades & Spades, and would like to avoid Fiesta (since I hate not knowing what my opponents are armed with.)

Heh, not likely. Everyone else will have power weapons and I'll spawn with the Needler and Plasma Pistol (you can see my disdain for Fiesta)

Wow, we suck, we're practically all in agreement.

All right, I'll work on the brackets tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have something up by the afternoon.

Edit: Oh yeah

Prefer: LTK, Epitaph
Avoid: Survivor, Construct

Just won 2 RBT matches back-to-back with my main man Dakar!

Up to a 12, w00t!

By the way, the spawning in the first game was retarded!

I got spawned as all my teammates die and I'm left facing 6 opponents.

Also, anyone on foot on the start of a Sandtrap BTB match will do well to run to the other side of the map before everyone spawns directly behind you as they're killed.

I had the sniper and <wham> all of sudden I have 8 dots all around me. Sometimes trying to stay alive has it's pitfalls.

I have to say, I really hate choppers. Seems like you can never shake them in a hog, and I can't do **** in one.

BTW, playing Social with you is getting to be worthless. I'm getting lit up like a Christmas Tree (not that losing two players each game helped). That Rockets game I almost threw my controller. I got spawn killed several times and half the time I never knew where I died from.

Don't get me started on that game of Rockets. I've never seen such awful spawning in all my Halo 3 travels.

I knew that my high rank would make Social a PITA with lower-ranked players.

It's ok on RBT since the BR is not always the way to win a map and you're proficient with vehicles. Social Slayer sucks anyways (IMO) even just the two extra players really crowd most maps and makes the spawning even worse.

I forgot to mention, I opened the Rockets game with an inexplicable suicide/betrayal. I guess I was traveling faster than the rocket I launched and had someone follow me over on the mancannon.

Behold! My first attempt at a Halo 3 Panorama!

Me and Dakar Ghosting it up in the background.

Of course I only have Flickr, so this was the maximum size. I have the original 1440px-wide version, but nowhere to host it. I used a little freeware app that couldn't have made it any easier and I'm probably not going to get any sleep tonight as I panorama my heart out...but the size...gah, I need a real hosting solution soon.

Me n Dakar Ghosting some more.

Completely by accident, yet hilarious. Another take on my infamous mancannon bubble-shield trick.

Edit: Vertical Panoramas are a hell of a lot harder to do. Even after tweaking for a half hour I still couldn't get the vertical lines to match up perfectly. Otherwise I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. Next task would be getting a sweet NN'er panorama with all sorts of vehicles and other jazz in the shot.

sek that panorama shot is ****en awesome, I read that article yesterday on Bungie's website thinking without a good photo program it wouldn't be possible, what did you use?

I was wondering, this is the mac forum, what kind of macs do the people of our halo community use (since we meet and play on a Microsoft console, ah the irony)? how long have you been a mac user?

My Mac - Macbook Pro 2.2GHz 15" Glossy ( check the sig)
Old macs - iBook G4, iMac G4, and iBook G3 (graphite toilet seat)

user since - 2000
