Between the Bridal shower I went to yesterday and Easter dinner tonight I consider this a missed opportunity for SWAT.

Dammit, hopefully I can get some games in tonight...

Event Results
Commissioner's note: Due to bungie not uploading my last picture I'll be splitting the update into two updates of two. Which is nice as it give us a perfect (but depressing) half-way point update.

Race 4

1 Team Blue Barracudas 20 zones (7)
2 Team Purple People Eaters 17 Zones and Pole Position (4 + 1)
3 Team Chocolate Dragons 16 Zones (2)
4 Team Gold Members 9 Zones (1)

Commish's Notes:
Another race, another win for Team Blue. This was another f the most competitive -- Team Chocolate held the lead for the first half of the race, but the usual series of unfortunate events led to a Purple grab of the lead, followed by Blue running of 3 of the next 5 zones to steal another victory.

Race 5

1 Team Blue Barracudas 18 Zones (7)
2 Team Purple People eaters 12 Zones and Pole Position (4 + 1)
3 Team Gold Members 10 Zones (2)
4 Team Chocolate Dragons 6 Zones (1)

Commish's Notes:
While this Race had the unfortunate distinction of being the first to finish under the elapsing of time, the results couldn't have been less in question. Blue ran away with race, where at once point it made 3 trips to one of the outer zones, each time returning to the track only to miss out on the zone they were chasing and have the next one reappear where they last scored. Also, apsolid really shined on the floating zone, each time scoring it on his first attempt.

Moment that summed up the season: A race for the center zone culminated with three teams (Gold, Chocolate, Blue) in a hotly contested race with Purple not too far behind. Gold steals the zone, but blow themselves up with Chocolate, leaving Blue to go on to the next zone uncontested.

Championship Standings after five events

1 Team Blue Barracudas 37 pts (98 zones + 2 Poles)
2 Team Purple People Eaters 20 pts (74 zones + 2 Poles)
3 Team Chocolate Dragons 11 pts (59 zones + 1 Pole)
4 Team Gold Members 7 pts (54 zones)

Yeah, well, you got to 33 long before I did... I never understood why you stopped, because it didn't look like you were getting slaughtered -- unlike me, who got massacred when he hit 30. Social or Ranked... I believe I hit 27 twice.

As always I have my doubts about making the next rank, but I'm almost positive I can get to 37, definitely 36.

BTW, this is my least favorite rank insignia out of all the Officer ones. Yay...

---

I'm considering having a meet-up to celebrate the new map pack. It'd be a nice to chance to get Dex in on the action and get Andy back in. Opinions?

I'm not sure why I stopped either. I think I just got burnt out on LW. But I've taken enough of a break and I think I'm ready to get back into it. Playing BTB is nice since I don't care about rank, and get to practice driving vehicles (which we all know is fun). Dealing with the wait time for starting a game, and the high probability for lag, and the possibly bad game type kinda sucks for BTB though.

Sweet, I'm down for whenever. I may have to work a little late a couple days this week, but for the most part I'm ready to play all week.

Cool, just to remember to stop at 35 until I get higher. Thanks.

---

Then it's settled! Tomorrow we'll have a meet-up. Perhaps sek, maroma, and I will bang out the last test tourney bracket?

And of course, we'll take a team or two into BTB as the new maps will be in MM.

I cannot believe that game of Neutral Bomb I played with you ended in a tie, Dakar.

We were up 2-0 with 3 minutes left and our dumbass team decides that defense just isn't for them.

I was so pissed I was speechless afterwards.

We were up 2-1 when time expired.

...and then it went into sudden death.
Seriously, does sudden death ever not occur?

Event Results

Race 6

1 Team Purple People Eaters 20 Zones + Pole Position (7 + 1)
2 Team Blue Barracudas 16 Zones (4)
3 Team Chocolate Dragons 10 Zones (2)
4 Team Gold Members 5 Zones (1)

Commish's Notes:
I'm sure there was some speculation as to the legitimacy of the Team Purple Driver winning the course he himself designed, but in truth all drivers had driven this course before. The more surprising bit might be the level of separation between the top half of Teams and the bottom, but since it turned out to be Team Purple's turn to be alone in a section of the map that kept respawning a zone for them, I chalk it up to mere role reversal.

And perhaps the inanity of said bottom teams.

Race 7

1 Team Purple People Eaters 20 Zones (7)
2 Team Blue Barracudas 13 Zones + Pole Position (4 +1)
3 Team Chocolate Dragons 8 Zones (2)
4 Team Gold Members 3 Zones (1)

Commish's Notes
Team Purple returns with an even more dominating showing before, more dominating than the Barracudas run on Sandtrap Trick. Here it was Dakar's turn to hit the center trick jump without fail. It was Team Purple's turn to constantly receive a Zone spawn near them (The Waterfall Base, inside). Props has to go to chuckit, and his clever use of the rockets to give him an extra boost to reach one of the zones. This triggered a full-fledged abandoning of the mongoose for going in half the zones.

Whether anyone was present at Gold Team's controllers during this event is still under investigation.

Championship Standings after seven events

1 Team Blue Barracudas 46 pts (127 zones + 3 Poles)
2 Team Purple People Eaters 35 pts (114 zones + 3 Poles)
3 Team Chocolate Dragons 15 pts (77 zones + 1 Pole)
4 Team Gold Members 9 pts (62 zones)

Remaining Schedule
Rather than drag this one, I'm scheduling the remaining three races for this Wednesday, 10.30 pm. (Let me know if this is a problem)

The final venues:

Race 9 - Grand Prix of Valhalla Speed
Race 10 - Grand Prix of Sandtrap Speed

So, I had a clever thought last night. Why not download the maps in the morning, before I go to work, so I can play them as soon as I go home? So I get up, log onto the market place, and they're still listed as 800 MS pts. Hmm. Check bungie.net and the forums are a crawlin' with people whining that they aren't free yet.

There's a thread with almost 2000 replies on the subject. Impressive, as it's been up since 1.30 am PST.

Long story short, I forgot the pack is huge (half a gig), so our PSTers would have a bit of trouble downloading it before a possible playdate tonight (If they're available later), so I'm canceling tonight's meet-up.

Sorry, folks.

in other news: Sek, my roommate bought Condemned 2 for PS3 (the advantage of a roommate with PS3) and it is pretty insane, definitely can't take long periods of time with it but its a good time and FINALLY gamestop got some more RSV2... all i can say is its AWESOME, just like the first one but better, the ability to run for short periods make its more fast paced but just as tactical, Think of it as all that was great with Rainbow Six before with all thats good from Call of Duty 4...

That's not entirely true. Right now, Team Purple has to finish all firsts to be close. Assuming Team Blue comes in all seconds, Purple would need to grab two poles to tie (assuming Blue did not get the third pole), or three to win.

Now, if by some miracle you guys were to grab third or fourth while we finished first, only then would it become truly interesting.

Oh, I've given some thought on how tie breakers are determined.
In the event of a tie, the winner is determined by:

1. The team with the most first place finishes.
then
2. The team with the most pole positions won.
then
3. The team with the most zones scored.
then
4. The team with the most second place finishes.

The "then" is used in the event that there is still a tie after that determining factor.

As I said, I'll bow to peer pressure on this. That and the two week wait for GTA might be enough. Speaking of which, I read to day that you'll be able to toggle the multiplayer mode on and off.

New map looks f**kin badass! Reminds me of a bastard child between Lockout and The Pit. Also, you would be mistaken to say I'll dominate with a sniper, small maps like that are hell for a sniper, except for the few ultra-nasty snipers that could kill you in a grifball court.
__________

KB, good to hear you get to see some Condemned 2, the first few levels are really intense. I just finished two more levels yesterday and now I'm in the frozen tundra looking for an abandoned lodge <spooooooky>
__________

On the note of RSV:2 - you can dash now?!? Awesome! Can't wait to pick it up, and GTA IV
god f**kin damn 2008 for video games so far.
__________

As for tonight's meet-up: I was called a pussy last night because I didn't go out (had to wake up at 6:30) and tonight all the boyz are going out again. Having no work and the release of Sam Adams Summer Ale is to much to resist.

So no brackets tonight, but I'll be on around 1 or so for you late-night-gamers. I hope the new guy, Dex, makes it out to play so we can show him our brand of fun....and hopefully I can snipe his head and laugh at him.
__________

Lastly, I WILL be buying the Legendary map pack, damn you awesome video games!!!!

By the time our West Coasters download the map pack it'll be a little on the late side.

Better to give everyone their own chance to explore it.

Not true. Not all of us use NetZero like you.

BTW, how long did it take you guys to download the new maps. My brother and I will be on tonight as soon our downloads are finished. We should have an MacNN informal meet up.

Yeah, I was thinking informal.

Mine was going strong until I fell asleep. For some reason it seems the longer it was connected the slower it went. I stopped and resterted it and it finished in like 10 minutes.

Think it took a little more than an hour and half over all.

I'm working late, which totally sucks balls, so I will be behind on downloading the maps tonight. Maybe by then the series of tubes will be less crowded with poker chips and naked women, thus allowing for a shorter download time.

So you may see me on Live, but don't feel bad if I don't accept your invite. (if i was going to get one, of course)

Alright, looks like its time for me to explain.

When I first got my new computer I was pumped at having a fresh clean large HD (my old HD was 40 GB, my new one was 250 GB).

I torrented stuff to hell. I think I dled like 50 gigs in 3 months. Well, Verizon didn't take too kindly to that, so they throttled my connection.

Two months back I decided to see if I could get my old connection back. So I asked to be "upgraded". They told me it wasn't possible to get the top tier line in my house. I asked why I was paying for that connection previously if it hadn't been available. Of course the rep has no response.

So the lying ****ers won't let me upgrade to a decent service, and I'm not desperate enough to go on cable. **** cable.

In short, another teabag has been added to your quota.
