Two months back I decided to see if I could get my old connection back. So I asked to be "upgraded". They told me it wasn't possible to get the top tier line in my house. I asked why I was paying for that connection previously if it hadn't been available. Of course the rep has no response.

So the lying ****ers won't let me upgrade to a decent service, and I'm not desperate enough to go on cable. **** cable.

Pic of the Day

Originally, I thought this was listed as being on one of Heroic maps, but having played them last night, I have no idea what map this is. Anyone?

Heroic Map Pack, Initial Impressions (Because everyone wants to know what I think, I'm sure of it)

Foundry
I'd hate to play a 4 v 4 game here. Seems like it'd be perfect for LTK. Seems smaller in person.

Oh, stogie getting spawn-****ed on a 1v1 game last night is a little worrisome.

Standoff
The best way to describe it is as the inverse Isolation. Isolation is a map where you keep climbing to the center, essentially cutting off battle. Standoff seems to be the opposite -- everything dips to the center, which is probably why I hear this is a mess of a slayer map, but great for Objective games. I have my doubts about 8 v 8 games here, too. The bases are very, very cool, though.

Also way smaller in person. Seeing a pattern?

Rat's Nest
A little simpler than I expected, and surprisingly, the bases seem to join a little too easily in the middle. I suspect bungie wanted to promote this area for battle, but it feels like its too short a trip from the base spawns. A slightly more complex outer ring and perhaps a basement would have been nice. Slightly smaller than I expected. I'm curious how 8 v 8 plays out here, as well.

Final thoughts
Really glad I didn't pick these up when they originally came out. I'm not terribly inspired by these maps (may change with more play).

---

The one nice thing I've done is I've gone and dled the blank Foundry canvas for some map making.

More importantly, however, is I've found Foundry recreations of famous GoldenEye levels -- Facility, Stack, and (surprisingly) Complex. I look forward to trying these out.

No, with so much on the line, I won't screw you over by having to take a new driver (As much as I'd like to win).

We'll meet anyway and just have fun on the new maps. Everyone down with that?

Jim Cramer cracks me up. I dig watching him go crazy on economics.

I'm down for gettin some new map action in tonight. Last night sucked. Stuff at work went crazy and I ended up in the office until 10:00. I had my girlfriend download the maps for me though. So I'm all set there.

I'm fully expecting today to be a normal day at work, so I should be on about my usual time.

Alright, I downloaded the Grifball Map and Game type. Be warned, I also downloaded recreations of The Facility , Stacks, and Complex from GoldenEye, so we'll be doing some serious LTK there, too.

I can't wait for Halo to complain I have too much custom content.... Time to delete more films, I guess...

I'm so excited to play the new maps I can barely contain the resulting boner.

Also (unrelated note), I think we should make trophies from the likeness of Dakar, much like an Oscar, to be given to winners of various NN tournies. But, instead of a sword, what would Dakar be holding?

Well KB I finally got around to testing out a Standoff-o-Rama since you said the sky gets all jazzed up.

Besides the weird halo around the hog and sat. dish it came out pretty good. However, it showed up terrible in the preview panel in HuginOSX but looked much better after stitching. It is obviously still a little screwy, but one you stitch the image it seems to take a lot of the curse off.

Well that was a bit of a let-down as meet-ups go. I know we didn't play on them much, but I'm curious what everyone thought of the new maps.

You people will become as jaded as I in time.

The thing about the new maps is they all seem to be very specialized -- not many of them are pulling double duty as far as game-types are concerned, though Rat's nest is definitely the closest and best.

Yeah they seem to be very game type specific. Have you guys tried License to Kill on any of those yet?

I did enjoy the indoor map with the Warthog and Ghosts. That was pretty fun for TS. I liked the danger associated with driving vehicles. The potential to give up a double or triple kill ups the thrill factor a bit.

LTK seems only really playable on Foundry, though I'm sure it would work on Rat's Nest to a much lesser degree.

I do enjoy Rat's Nest. I think I may be Forging that map before Standoff.

Since it's been a while, I think I'll get on tonight and take a bunch of pictures.

I have to say, it seems like we always have an odd number of people, making team splits impossible. You'd think random chance would give us even teams about as often, but no...

I have to say Social SLayer is a pain since we have such a huge range of skill between our best and worst players. Still, I had a really good time (at the end) of that Last Resort game. I was in full-on panic mode when I managed to clear out Camp Froman with the Shotty and consequently beg for reinforcements while under turret fire.

Pair of semi-fun (depending if you were on the top or bottom half) Four-for-alls to close up the night, just like we used to two months ago. Of course now ::maroma:: is much deadlier, and I'm a little more efficient, making the games more lop-sided than before.

Two suggestions: Forge a RR for Rat's Nest and Standoff, fun ensues.

Hell, maybe I'll try my hand at it. I think a Rat's Nest Trick map would be awesome...but I have no idea how make the floating checkpoints.

Nah, I'll be waiting for bungie's official maps before I do anything.
Edit: I should check if they haven't already placed them since these maps came out after the Rocket race hopper, though
