I have played WoW for many years now, but over a year ago I switched from the US to EU realms.

I have an account with 3 level 60 characters on it going spare so to speak.

Just wondering if the T&C now allow you to do anything with this account? or if it just stays there until deleted at some point in future?

I only ask as I put tons of time and effort in to the account, and I'd hate to see it go to waste when someone cold make good use of it...

Any advice appreciated!

It's against the EULA to sell the account, but it's OK to give it away. I had a 60 Hunter, and a 60 Pally that I gave away. Of course, I wish I had kept them now. . .

For how long does Blizzard keep inactive accounts?

i sold mine on ebay. that's right. i sold it for more money than i spent to play it. blizzard can come hunt me down for making a profit off their game.

funny thing is, i think the guy who bought it got banned soon after.

Eh, I've just got mine sitting dormant.

Two level epic 70s and a 60 (would've been 4 70s, but I transferred two off), 5000+ gold, and epic flying mounts on two of them.

I quit in February last year and haven't touched it since. I have no desire to do so either.

when you've completely lost interest in the game to the point where you actually despise it, it's a pretty easy decision. i'd rather get something back for all the time i wasted, rather than just let it rot. $500+ is hard to turn down.

I don't even think you can give it away. According to the TOS, the game is only allowed to be played by the person whose name is on the account.

Now, whether or not they ever FIND OUT is a different story.

My account has been rotting for about a year and a half. 2x60s, decent epics for the time, 2k gold. Med school put an end to WoW I should have sold it when it still had some value.

Really?

Well Wow is a MMORPG (massively multi-player online role-play game). It is based in a fantasy world of magic demons and monsters.

Then people - myself included - pay £8 a month (as far as i am aware this is world standard price just converted direct to local currency) to play the game - get our shiny new "characters" from level 1-70 which on my 3rd character took me just under 10 days of solid online play (not in one chunk!). And then you get to progress through "end-game encounters" basically areas tuned for 10 or 25 man groups (of peoples characters) with respectable armor to go and fight in.

In short it is an endless loop of a game that is amazing fun to play - but i am well aware that it can just get boring someday.

I just wonder how they enforce their rule if you've already left.

What rule? The rule against account trading? They'll ban the account.

IF someone finds out about it. I seriously doubt they will. Also, a transaction like this is pretty harmless.

I did usually get annoyed when it happened though. You'd see someone that you knew; you'd done PUGs with them and possibly done some trading, then suddenly they're someone else.

They go from:

"Hey man, what's goin' on in BT? You get that staff yet?"

to

"lolz how do I summun a sucubis?"

Diablo II had a coherent story which at least got you through the game. WoW doesn't have that, nor any real storyline progress. Everything re-spawns. The world is like a photograph, frozen in time.

Silly really.

Diablo II also had a single-player and LAN mode, it also didn't cost $12.95 a month just to play it.
