Can't find any good resource on this problem... I have an eMac with 256MB RAM and 10Gigs free HD space and OS 10.3

I DL Macmame and when I double click it, it appears for 1 second in my icon dock at the bottom and then closes. The docs don't point to any incompatibility with my setup and as far as I can tell even if I didn't have any roms or even have them located in the proper place, MacMAME should at least open and stay open.

I read another forum issue on this and someone said something about authentication logins... well I've rebooted(just in case) and besides, his symptoms were different as he could open the program.... I can't.

Started out using an Amiga for years back in the day, PC's too(heck used MAME for DOS and windows so I know what is needed generally), and this is my GF's Mac but it's not hard to use and I can follow any direction no matter how technical... but in this case I'm a bit miffed because it really should just work.

I have never had a problem like that. Have you tried a different user? Have you tried MAMEOSX? It processes the files slower but it may be an option if you can get MacMAME to work.

MameOSX is for 10.4.. and may not be fully tested for 10.3... I'm running 10.3

But I tried it anyway and it does the exact same thing... it shows on the dock for 1 second and then disappears back into nothing.
