Pretty much blows I have to say. The only thing I like about it is how they folded the Gaming Update into the actual show.
Don't care about the challenges (like my 40 year old reflexes can compete).
Don't need (and in fact actively avoid) walkthroughs, so the Cheat! segment is worthless. I would take general strategy for a game, but it's too short of a bit for that.
Too many previews. Super Smash Bros. Brawl is going to be cool, but do we need five whole preview segments on it?
And last but not least, 100% downgrade with the title sequence. I was so happy with the last set of titles. Not only for a bunch of clever gaming references (like "prepare to be reviewed") but that these 2 low-rent basic cable show hosts get to see cool animated versions of themselves.
Now all they get is a 3 second shot standing in an arcade, and it looks to me the only instruction the director gave them is "can you give me more of that smug asshole look?"
What say you?

I actually like the new format. The show has always walked the line between good entertainment and dumbed down drek. It still is in about the same place as far as that goes, but I like how they focus more on news and less on reviews.
Like you said though, there is a lot of crap in there. So like always, the best thing to do is watch it on TiVo and blast through most of it. I usually can watch X-play in about 10 minutes, because there is a lot I just don't care about at all.

Maybe part of my grumpiness was that I had this down to a science on the old format.
Three 30-second skips to first review. Skip once out of that to the second review.
Start skipping out of the second review until you see their faces again, then hit it one more time and you'll be in the next bit or review.
Rinse and repeat.
10 minutes was about right.

I'm not so sure about the new format just yet but i do really like the podcasts, the daily game reviews and previews is a good thing for the itunes/ipod

A little late here, but...
I have to admit, I liked how the new format gave them the opportunity to do wall to wall GDC coverage.
Though I would have rather not seen what the guy from Zero Punctuation looked like.

Morgan could use a different wardrobe. Whoever runs it makes her dress like a gypsy.

That's sorta working for me. At least it's veered away from trashy.
