So i picked up Zelda Phantom Hourglass a couple of weeks ago, and quite frankly im amazed at the use of the touchscreen and microphone (that blowing into the microphone thing is pretty cool). I love the way the touchscreen/menu system is handled, the only complain(very minor) is the fact that the stylus and my wrist sometimes blocks the screen making it hard to know whats going on.

Now when they first introduced the DS, i thought it would become the new platform for adventure(ala Day of the Tentacle) games, unfortunately that has not happened. But if lucasarts is interested in making money i reckon they would re-release those old games with a new UI on this system.

After playing LoZ: PH i realized that this console would be the perfect fit for Starcraft (brood wars) so i got a screenshot of starcraft and came up with....

Top screen:
-overworld map
-talking portrait
-selected units
-inventory (fuel,etc)

Bottom screen:
-the majority of the screen is the "Action" screen
-with a row of 10 buttons maybe 20-25 pixels high along the bottom that map the "Action"/Context buttons. which could be made to appear/disappear like the dock when a unit/units are selected or like the Menu strip from MacOS 9.

-Also selection and point is handled using the touch screen(duh).
-Scrolling through the map is handled by switching the screens, and using the overworld map to move the camera as desired. OR for quick scrolling hold down the R/L trigger to switch the context from unit-selection to scrolling, and touch the screen accordingly. OR use the D-Pad / a-b-x-y buttons of the NDS.
-Start button pauses the game and brings up the menu.

-Add wifi for LAN and WAN playability similar to the PC/Mac version
-a level builder

They have this game running on N64 hardware, so i see no reason why they cannot bring this game to the NDS with a minimal investment. And im sure it will sell a a heck of a lot of units.

What do you guys think ?

Cheers

I think its a gold mine just waiting to be hit!

It probably wouldn't be that far out either, seeing as how they've ported Myst (another old classic) to the DS. StarCraft would take a bit more work though, but I'd line up for it!
I'm on MacNN forums, but no longer have a Mac...
