In music, when an album is to come out on 5/20, it will be in stores for sale on 5/20. This doesn't seem to be the case with video games in my experience. Today is the release date for several games, but when I actually go to a store, I won't find them. Are there stores that actually sell the games on their release date?

EB used to be one that I could rely on. Then it got bought by gamestop. Can't tell you about their reliability.

Big games are always out on the actual release day, but for smaller titles, the release date is actually the ship date. So you have to wait 2 days or so, depending on where you are in the country.

As much as I hate them with a passion, Gamestop is probably your best bet for getting games like this a day before everyone else.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

Also, places like GameStop will sometimes fabricate release dates just so you can reserve yourself a copy. A good example would be Wrath of the Lich King, Blizzard has yet to announce an official release date but when I went to pay off the rest of the game they told me October.... They're probably pulling this for people reserving Starcraft II if I had to guess.
